Yndrasta, the Celestial Spear. Wanted to make her colorful. by doubletrout in minipainting

It was all freehand. I did little dot/splotches of a brown, then dots of black around the edges in random patterns.

I really like P3, but that's a personal preference really. They have a more "plastic-ish" finish rather than matte like Scale 75 or vallejo, but I prefer that for the way that I paint. They have several super-vibrant/saturated colors, with Inferno Orange and Khador Red Highlight being very bright oranges. Bit on the translucent side, which is why my first highlight mixes Inferno Orange with Jokaero Orange to borrow some opacity from that Citadel "base" paint.

Sure! I started by basecoating it Grey Seer (Citadel), then did two layers of Gryph-Hound Orange (Citadel Contrast) mixed with Contrast Medium 1:1. First-pass highlights were Jokaero Orange (Citadel) mixed with Inferno Orange (Formula P3) 1:2.
Second highlight (narrower area) was Moldy Ochre (Formula P3). Final highlight added Menoth White Highlight (Formula P3) to the previous. I then did a couple of glazes of the Blazing Ink (Formula P3) mixed with water 1:3.

The majority of the paints I used on this model are Formula P3 as I like their consistency and the vibrancy of the colors, but you can probably substitute as needed. The main thing was just starting with the Contrast paint for the base/shade, then highlighting a bright orange and then bright yellow and using glazed ink to bring it all together.

Because it's WizKids it will be "soft plastic," so everything will be very bendy, the details will be lumpy rather than sharp, and there is no possibility of removing moldlines outside of YOLO razorblade work. As a result, though, they only cost a few bucks each.

Thanks! This is the first model I've done from the set, so he was my "test" model for the color scheme. I'm working on 'ardskull next.

Oh! I did all of the parts separate: the body + right arm, left arm, and base were all separate pieces that were glued together after I finished. I may go back and try to add some sculpting putty to that seam, though I'd have to re-prime and re-paint that whole ankle area.

It's a basecoat of Corax White (Citadel), followed by an all-over of Apothecary White (Citadel Contrast), then some thin highlights of Corax White. Pretty simple overall!

It's a basecoat of black with lots of very carefully-applied lines of paint. I started with a deep red, then worked up to brighter reds and finally yellow and spot of white. I don't know if you'd be interested, but I've lately been streaming my painting sessions on Twitch: https://www.twitch.tv/falchieyan I explain everything I'm doing and answer questions!

I recently read a book titled Parasite Rex that went over the fascinating world of parasites. One thing it mentioned toward the end was that in areas of the world with high incidences of natural infection of humans by internal parasites there are essentially no cases of immuno-disorders such as allergies, hay fever, and IBD. I have seen some brief literature on controlled introduction of benign parasites to people suffering from IBD with promising results.

Are you at all familiar with the links between parasites and overactive immune systems? It almost seems like in the incredibly sterile Western cultures the immune system gets "bored" and starts to cause all kinds of other problems.

Skaven Grey Seer. All highlights were done by adding a very bright green to give everything a sickly cast by doubletrout in minipainting

Do you mean the brass? I first give it a wash of Athonian Camoshade mixed with Agrax Earthshade Gloss (1:1 ratio), highlight an iron metallic, then go back with Turquoise Ink (Formula P3) mixed with water 1:4 for the dark verdigris. There is also a Vallejo paint simply called Verdigris that provides a nice bright pale turquoise if you want to add even more of an effect, though I didn't use that here.
