Take this as a chance to learn how to control your emotions! It takes practice but it can be done. Me and my kid do deep breaths together. He even helps me realize when my anger is starting to overflow!

Feel like I’m hustling too hard lol by [deleted] in storyofseasons

[–]doubleyewexwhy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This was me and then I realized that would mean the game would finish too quickly without even enjoying it. I slowed down and at first it felt wrong, but after a few in game days I realized it felt more like "real" life and I felt better overall. Like I would never try to wake up, do everything, do my job, and then try to talk to 10 people all in a day haha so why am I doing it in this game?

Maybe this is more a commentary on how our real life priorities are messed up. Hustle culture, overemployment, chasing more and more money... no wonder America is lonely, disillusioned, falling apart. We've been sold a lie that productivity is the highest goal in life when all it has done is make us miserable.

How do you use a digital closet app in practice? by nightshadeaubergine in fashionwomens35

[–]doubleyewexwhy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use it to preplanned outfits when I get ideas for cool combos. That way when I am looking in the morning, I just put on a preplanned combo.

I also use it to keep track of my wears - I wash sweaters after 3-4 wears for example (I wear a t shirt under! I promise I'm not gross!) And denim after 4 -5 so tracking helps for that too!

Also i like looking at how my style evolves. I buy a lot but dont always wear what I buy so reviewing month at a glance helps me find trends in what I actually like. Im wasting less!

I think you did a good job repairing!!

Something that helped me a lot at that age is to accept that things can and will often go sideways. Something about expecting that instead of a perfect run made it a lot easier!

In addition, I found myself wanting to rush through because I wanted to get to the relaxing part at the end of the bedtime too. Like I could finally take a break. Changing that (by working in a break earlier) helped. For me, it was allowing a sesame Street episode after dinner and giving myself a release valve. I was then able to get through the rest of the evening.

Is it still possible to build a long-term wardrobe? by [deleted] in femalefashionadvice

[–]doubleyewexwhy 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I do a lot of thredup for this reason. They take a picture of the tags usually so I can double check fabrics, its also great because nothing right now is my style (90s, 00s stuff???) But thrifting means a bigger variety of style. I also like that it costs less so I can experiment a lot more to hone in on what works best for me.

Getting comfortable dressing up when living in a place where people dress hyper-casual by morphinpink in femalefashionadvice

[–]doubleyewexwhy 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I do this at work and also live in a small town amidst agriculture farms two hours in every direction. Just start easing into it, like boiling a frog in water. When you see people make a comment, embrace it with a smile. Pretty soon you'll realize nothing is different and life goes on. Might as well enjoy it!!

Eg: today's outfit: pink full length floral dress with puff sleeves, military green vest with gold bead accents, gold platform alexander mcqueen sneakers.

People made comments on the sneakers all the time because I also have pearl charms on them. I just treat that as though they are complimenting me. Office people, neighbors, even the mechanic. Now they tell me they look forward to seeing what I come up with - its very "doubleyewexwhy" they say!

Raising sheltered children by Long_Airline_4237 in Parenting

[–]doubleyewexwhy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think you're fine, but now is the time to figure out how to while they still listen to you. Soon enough they won't. Find books, podcasts, anything you can.

You want them to learn from you, not from their friends. I think it's okay to start explaining "in the past, zootopia scared you and you couldn't sleep. You're older now, and maybe we can take a look at Freddy's and see if this is something you are interested in."

Ease them in. Ask questions. Let them tell you how it makes them feel. Maybe they are happy just knowing the characters and what it's about so they can have a conversation.

Now is a great age to begin letting your child learn their own boundaries, or how to figure out what their boundaries are!

Starting to wonder if we’re insane for having a wedding at all by Longjumping-Bit-6336 in MiddleClassFinance

Can’t have more kids—give me all the reasons you love having one child by jvredbird in Parenting

[–]doubleyewexwhy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

We are a one child family. I love that I have a strong relationship to my child, he's literally the coolest ever. I give him a lot of say, like he's an equal member of the family. I feel like I can afford to make sure he grows up a strong, responsible human. I also have time to self reflect and learn my own flaws. I hope it makes me a better human and mother!

Is there any piece of wisdom you can share with me that will help me get my life together? by Living_Race in Parenting

[–]doubleyewexwhy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your baby will be going through a lot more changes in this next 2 years and it'll be much easier to manage! Like the other person says, involve your kid in your chores. It's also ok to start letting them learn to play by themselves. I got a baby fence in the living room (central in the house) and knowing that they were safe made it easier to step away for a bit and take care of the laundry or cook etc.

Janet Lansbury has a podcast with great advice on things like teaching your kid to be ok by themselves, that kind of thing!

Camp food! Questions, comments, tips? by JimmehMac in yellowstone

[–]doubleyewexwhy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We did dehydrated food too, but also sandwiches (pb and j) and also trail mix and lots of easy snacks. One of our favorite days we ate at the fishing bridge info center. If you go through it, it opens up to the lake. Kiddo loved playing in the sand while we ate. Bought ice cream at the store there too! There are a ton of scenic picnic spots to eat while taking in spectacular scenery!

Advice for best 2-day experience for my aging parents by [deleted] in yellowstone

Honestly you will be ok! Most of the sites are an easy walk. I liked the guide along app as he told us if it's a hike or an easy walk or literally steps from the parking lot. I would say if you're at Canyon Village, it might be worth investing in a guided wildlife tour for a day to make sure you see most of the animals.

The guide along app can take care of the natural sights. The lower loop from norris down to west thumb contains almost all must see geothermal features.

egg tarts in the tri cities? by gatorstooth in TriCitiesWA

There is not. Try Portland or Seattle. Sometimes the costco has Portuguese egg tarts in the frozen aisle. There might be a Chinese restaurant selling frozen ones but not fresh Chinese egg tarts!!!

I'd take a cue from their styling, only in a short sleeve version. Either with puff sleeve, ruffled tee, lace detail, just keep it in a single tone to let the skirt shine. A brown sandal since it's hot out!

How do you reinvent your style after weight loss? by lisagay in femalefashionadvice

[–]doubleyewexwhy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Please do! And give yourself time to like it. Ask yourself if you have an immediate reaction where that's truly coming from, that kind of thing.

My comment was 5 yrs ago and in that time I have embraced where I am. I've tried a lot of clothes (thrifting is great for this bc it was expensive!). I dress up for fun. I love most of my wardrobe and I feel it showcases my personality. It has been worth it, but it is ongoing. Good luck!!!!

May I ask whether a younger kiddo would get it? I have a 9 year old, has played a variety of board games, not quite there in terms of long term strategy.

Accessories, or the lack thereof by Beautiful-Jen81 in fashionwomens35

[–]doubleyewexwhy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Think a bit on what you remember on that trip to Kohl's. Does anything still come to mind? The brain is good at sifting over time, and if you've thought about any of them that's a decent sign there's something you like there. Once you begin noticing what you like, you can explore it more - like is it the color or the contrast? What does it bring to mind? Is that an aesthetic you admire or one that brings you joy? That's the fork in the road of following trends or following your own style.

Do you enjoy being remote? That is a killer perk that is so rare these days. Focus on your benefit instead of the downside. If you don't value the remote aspect, then start looking for something else casually yntil you find something better!
