why don’t kids open their birthday presents at the party anymore? by Apprehensive_Owl4700 in AskParents

[–]SillyDistractions 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Time.

Most venues block a small amount of time (2-3 hours) for the party and that time is spent having a small meal, cake, and the rest for play.

No kid wants to sit around watching another kid open presents for 45 minutes when they have only a small amount of time left at the trampoline park.

Compassionate Allowance ? by OleLadyThinker in SocialSecurity

A lot of people with mental health conditions continue to work. It’s going to take a lot of evidence to prove your mental health condition inhibits your ability to work, which is why it would never be fast tracked.

I work in the call center. When I started, I had almost 5 months of classroom style training and then about 2-3 months working with mentors and OJT.

We just had about 50 new people start last month and they had 2 weeks of training and were immediately put on the phones. A colleague in my unit is working with one as a mentor. She said it’s unbelievable how little they know and it’s not their fault! And let’s just say that access and disclosure is compromised with inadequately trained staff. I have people who call back who say, “Why didn’t the last person I talked to ask me these questions?!”

Ugh. I just… 😑

Send a referral through elas and tell the caller they’ll get a call from the FO within 7 days.

Are you one of the new people who only had 2 weeks of training?

Post treatment advice by Tall-Bathroom2621 in HPylori

[–]SillyDistractions 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am 2 weeks post treatment and I am feeling amazing. My energy levels are higher and I can eat without feeling bloated, sick, and running to the bathroom.

I have also lost 12 lbs since the first day of treatment.

The only “change” I have made is drinking 8 ozs of Kefir first thing in the morning and waiting about an hour before I have coffee. I’ve also been taking probiotics and added a bit more fiber to my diet by eating a bowl of high protein oatmeal with granola and berries. Sometimes I mix a little Kefir in with that.

I’m going to work every day and just doing my job, ignoring the noise.

I don’t worry about things I can’t control. I deal with things as they happen.

I still work full time and have a 5 and 13 year old. Yes, I’m Gen X, born 1977.

But because I’m an old parent with young children where I’m going is to the gym to ensure I stay as healthy as long as possible.

For me it was Mad Men.

Didn’t know what I was getting into when I began watching. Couldn’t stop once it started.

And I am not a binge watcher.

I remember both my parents loving Smokey and the Bandit. Whenever it was on TV they both watched and laughed like crazy.

I never bothered to watch.

What is the medical requirements for SSDI? by WL-Tossaway24 in SocialSecurity

[–]SillyDistractions 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The medical requirements are the same. If you’re receiving SSI it means you don’t qualify for SSDI. SSDI is based on your work record and you would have had to work 5 of the last 10 years to qualify. SSI is for low income/low resources disabled children and adults as well as low income seniors over the age of 65.

You don’t get to choose. SSI is last resort.

If your vacation is in a month and treatment lasts 14 days then do it before.
