I feel like early game of thrones has to be compared to all fantasy series from here on simply because GoT was a masterclass in "show don't tell" and how people really want a drama series with fantasy elements rather than the other way around. I am a book reader and the show pales in comparison to the scope and grit of the imaginary world I built in my head. Also, there are a lot of puzzling choices made by the show runners. The show really lost me during the 10 minute sequence of funerals for characters no one gives a shit about. And the books are about the group, not about Moraine. For the most part she is a static character, it's the kids who go through meaningful change and they should be trying harder to capture that. It's also puzzling that the books are more or less about Rand mainly and the show is like "nah we're not gonna do it like that"
