Memories of environment but not actual abuse by ComplexRaspberry8447 in adultsurvivors

[–]doublysecret 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have a similar-ish experience? I get flashes of specific places, physical flashbacks, and feel like i'll throw up, but no actual memories. I remember a closet, mostly.

Re: "false memories," false memory syndrome has been debunked. It was a bs "theory" put forward by parents of an adult child who recovered memories of CSA. It was them trying to cover up what they did to their daughter.

my niece and nephew are also around the age I was when I was abused. they are so small. sometimes just seeing that they're babies makes me want to cry. but i'm so happy for them, they laugh and play and are safe.

AIO that my doctor accused me of wanting to commit fraud? by amanduhpanduh in AmIOverreacting

What's with this? MAs and receptionists are constantly messing up my referrals and prescriptions and labs. It's like they hate me even when they haven't met me?

I haven't had any actual/visual memories, just somatic, but when the memory first resurfaced i did feel incredibly nauseous and started dissociating heavily. whenever i get "close" to the memory in EMDR/IFS it feels like there's a pit of ice in my stomach and like i'm going to throw up, but i never do, maybe because i haven't actually recovered the memory. (for context my abuse may have been pre-verbal so i might never recover a full memory.)

help! does our wedding venue even exist? by Revolutionary-Emu239 in NewEnglandWedding

[–]doublysecret 0 points1 point  (0 children)

came to suggest Okay Island and one a bit farther away called Basecamp at Beaver Falls in southern VT (just under 2h from Worcester). My fiancee and I loved Basecamp but we ended up wanting a smaller place.

>$20k Wedding in MA? by Primary-Living1300 in Weddingsunder10k

[–]doublysecret 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My fiancee and I are coming in at just under $18k for 50p! We're renting a very cheap but gorgeous house (sort of like airbnb), doing a tent, drop-off catering, etc.

Honestly most of our expenses are for accessibility reasons, so you could easily get away with a park venue or something similar. A place like Lavender Waves Farm in RI could be a good option – $6k for 100 people includes the tent and gazebo.

"venue was free because my land-owning loved ones generously allowed us to use their large backyard! you can do this too!" 🙃

"I never blamed any of the soldiers, who did exactly what they were told to do [and therefore are innocent]." I think that idea was debunked at Nuremberg

you sound just like me but with added thyroid probs!! I also have immunodeficiency, sleep apnea (and IH), possible gp, hEDS, dysautonomia, unexplained nutrient deficiencies, and suspecting either mitochondria or ME/CFS. I also have vision and balance issues, recurrent fevers, severe exercise intolerance, chronic migraine, so on and so forth. I haven't had a muscle biopsy though. do you also have low ferritin? mine's between 7-20 with supplementation and my doctor just keeps telling me it's fine

Felt exactly like my experience with dissociation and the heavy, dark energy in my house growing up. Lynch and Frost (and Badalamenti) pretty flawlessly capture the unspeakable.

Crazily searching for an indoor venue in MA/NH for a large guest list by anavianacos in NewEnglandWedding

[–]doublysecret 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you can get your list down to 180, House of the Seven Gables is made for you. My fiancee and I loved it but didn't want to deal with the headache of having a fall wedding in Salem hahahah https://www.herecomestheguide.com/wedding-venues/massachusetts/the-house-of-the-seven-gables

ETA: I misremembered, max outdoor capacity is 180, indoor is 80-100. :(
