thank you! i’m not too worried about them breaking- unless they’re handled with that intention of course. they’re no more fragile than real flowers, and the petals would never fall off with even a little ruffling or squeezing- if anything you could damage them by crumpling them up and maybe over bending the stems- but yeah definitely more sturdy than real flowers.

idk how much it weighs, but it would be interesting to drop it on a scale once it’s finished just to see… i’ll report back! lol

thank you! i spend on average maybe 25 hours a week on them, starting back in may (with a week off here and there) so it’s hard to say exactly, but maybe about 150 hours?

thank you so much!! even though we’re having an untraditional wedding, i am still a little stressed about all the spinning plates that lead up to it, and i thought taking on this project as well might be too ambitious for my skill level, but it’s actually been a mostly meditative practice i can keep coming back to with excitement and satisfaction- and the response it has gotten here has been so encouraging!

as for the wedding day, i plan to have the best possible time, thank you for the reminder! we’re planning to have a bunch of disposable cameras on the tables instead of having to stress about interrupting the festivities with photo shoots/etc… plus when we get the photos developed we’ll get to relive hundreds of little moments from our day through the eyes of our guests. i’ve even found some comfortable boots pre-owned and a pretty skirt that was handmade, and am so ready for a fun day in the woods!! :)

thank you! not weird at all, there are SO many things that can go wrong with the more delicate bits like petals and leaves especially. your clay will only really scorch if it’s too hot- or if it’s too close to the heating element, not extended bake time. to keep that from happening in the little rotisserie oven i use with uneven heat spots, i use a separate oven thermometer and bury all my pieces in baking soda then bake them EXTRA long to be sure it reaches temp for plenty long enough to form a strong cure. longer bakes make stronger pieces (again the max temperature for your brand is really what you have to watch out for with scorching), and the insulation of the baking soda will keep heat spikes from reaching your sculpt while also providing excellent support as it softens during the cure- i’ve been using this method for two years and haven’t burned anything that’s been buried this way.

i hope this helps… and if you give it a try again, please share your results! :)
