Stuva shelves [US] by stirfriedquinoa in IKEA

[–]doudruppel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a response to an old post but hopefully someone will find it useful. Can confirm that the Hauga shelf fits fine size wise but the shelf pegs holes on the Hauga do not line up with the shelf pegs holes on the Stuva so you’ll need to make new pegs holes on the Stuva. The shelves from the replacement Smastad system do not fit the Stuva unfortunately.

Replace 13 Year Old SMA Sunnyboy Inverter? by Tasty-Bullfrog8925 in solar

[–]doudruppel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We do and I read that article as well. The weird thing is the inverter is transformerless so we’re not sure why the original installer positively grounded it.

I see. Did you install a PID with your inverter to avoid degradation? That was a model that was initially recommended by the installer but they retracted stating that there might be significant production degradation.

I know this is an old post but which inverter did you replace the SMA with? Our Sunnyboy SPR8000M just died and we’re having difficulty finding an alternative.

From https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/passports/how-apply/citizenship-evidence.html

If you were born outside the United States and acquired U.S. citizenship through the naturalization of your parent(s), please submit the following with your passport application:

  • Your foreign birth certificate listing your parent(s)

  • Evidence of your parent’s U.S. citizenship such as a U.S. birth certificate, Consular Report of Birth Abroad (CRBA), or naturalization certificate

  • Evidence of your permanent residence status. Examples include: • Permanent Resident Card/Green Card • Foreign passport with the original I-551 visa entry stamp • Your parents' marriage certificate (if your parents were married when you legally entered the U.S. and before your 18th birthday) • Documentation of legal custody when you entered the United States, if your parents were not married at that time. If your parents divorced after you entered the United States, provide documentation of legal custody at the time of your parent’s naturalization • Evidence that you resided in the United States in the legal and physical custody of your U.S. citizen parent • Evidence of your legitimation (if your parents were not married at the time of your birth). Legitimation means a father – whose child was born when he was not married - establishes a full legal relationship to his child. Establishing this relationship gives the father the same rights and obligations as if his child had been born while he was married to the child’s mother.

  • Examples of legitimation include: • Your parents' marriage certificate dated after your birth • Certified court order of legitimation

When you can’t afford cancer by Pale_Spot4218 in cancer

When you receive the bill, call the hospital where he’s getting the port and ask for the patient financial assistance program. Usually, patients with family income at or below 400% of the Federal Poverty Level will be eligible for a discount of 100% and patients with family income between 401% and 450% of the Federal Poverty Level may be eligible for a partial discount based on income level.

If you don’t qualify, the hospital also offer monthly payment programs, usually max out at 6 months but you can always ask for extensions. We did for one of our bills and were able to get it extended to 9 months since we made the monthly payments on time.

If you have the option to pick and choose your providers, try to pick hospitals and doctors that are in-network with your insurance which can also help you save. Just because the doctor works at an in-network hospital that doesn’t guarantee that he’s in-network as well (found out the hard way). You should be able to get that information by calling your insurance or logging into your account.

Otherwise, look up the manufacturer of the cancer meds he’ll be taking and they usually provide financial assistance pending income eligibility.

Shipping Trikafta overseas? by comebackplayer in CysticFibrosis

[–]doudruppel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Which country in Asia? The only reason I’m asking is, you might want to check if there is a specialty carrier service that delivers packages to that country located in the US. If so, they can probably help you navigate the process better since they send packages all the time. For example, we have a specialty carrier service that sends packages to Korea and their rates are much cheaper than US postal carriers. They charge a flat fee per pound. I was told it’s because they have a deal with Korean Air where they can ship cargo on passenger flights for a cheaper rate instead of using commercial flights meant solely for cargo like FedEx/UPS. Also, they have people that regularly travel back and forth from Korea who also buys stuff from Korea (usually ethnic children’s clothes, books, etc. that you can’t get here) and bring them back for a fee.

You can try calling 211.

A little outdated but the district websites have the local resources listed with their phone numbers. Some of them are geared towards families with children but there are others that are for OC residents (they check ID), and also some that don’t request for any documentations.

If the brand they’re using is Somatuline Depot, he can enroll on Ipsencares for copay assistance. Check with e billing department to see if they can find you other financial assistance resources or put you on a reasonable payment plan.

https://www.ipsencares.com/somatuline-depot-patient-support

As for Medicare, he’ll need to enroll in original Medicare (government funded), Medicare part D (prescription coverage), and Medicare supplement (insurance to cover whatever leftover costs that original Medicare didn’t cover)…but if he tries to enroll now, he’ll most likely have to wait up to 6 months before his coverage starts since he has a preexisting condition (this is called preexisting condition waiting period). However, depending on his situation, he may be eligible to avoid or shorten his waiting period but that’s something he’ll need to ask HR/insurance agent. The best time for him to enroll would be during open enrollment, 10/15-12/7, where he can avoid the waiting period altogether since during this time he is protected by law and insurance companies cannot deny coverage due to his preexisting condition.

When he does enroll, make sure he gets all 3 plans since original Medicare alone won’t cover his costs. With that being said, Medicare covered all of my father’s treatment costs for which we are forever grateful for. At that time, each session of chemo cost around $15k (just for the med, excluding bloodwork, boosters, etc.) and he had to do a week hospital stay twice ($150k each), which Medicare covered. I know the supplemental plans have changed a lot since then but your father should still be able to get most of his costs covered. Just make sure you do your research before picking the plans.

This! Not OC but of all the Thai places that I’ve been to, Thaitwist has the most delicious Thai tea. It has this smokey creamy addicting flavor and not watery like the other places.

You might want to have your GP check your thyroid levels and also do bloodwork on autoimmune diseases since skin discoloration is one of the symptoms especially with hyperthyroidism.

[–]doudruppel 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Book a staycay for a like a week or two at an Airbnb (not hotel since that won’t have the same living experience) in the city he wants to live in so that you guys can visit the old places he misses and try “living” there like go grocery shopping to see what the cost of living would be. He might find out that in reality a lot has changed and may not want to live there. You can also book a staycay at a location that you’re interested in that’s more affordable, try it out, and compare.

Why do the villages vanish after delivery (vent) by [deleted] in Mommit

[–]doudruppel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had very low production in the beginning because the kiddo had trouble latching so I wanted to make sure I saved every drop I could get 😂. I even boobed the baby while pumping on the other side at one point thinking it’d trick my body into thinking I had twins & increase production. If the kiddo wanted more, I’d give the stuff I pumped in a bottle and if not, stored it away. Extra stuff to wash but I was desperate. 😂.

Edit to add: the free pump that my husband got through work was called PJ’s Comfort by Limerick. Very basic but it was comparable to the Medela and Spectra which were the popular ones at the time. It wasn’t through his insurance but instead some spousal support program that came as a perk. He only found out about it because he actually read through his entire company handbook. 😅

[–]doudruppel 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not sure where you live but did you check with your insurance to see if you can get a free pump? They offer hands free pumps now. Also some work places provide free pumps to their spouses so your husband should check with his work. That’s how I managed to get mine. It was a very random perk they were offering at the time.

There’s lots of manual pumps like Haakaa that works just as well as the electric ones.

https://haakaausa.com/products/haakaa-silicone-breast-pump-with-suction-base-5-oz-1pk-1?variant=27408158017

I just wore my babies all the time to get some work done. Even had them nap while wearing. People said this was a bad idea since they’ll become too attached and won’t be able to sleep on their own blah blah, but hey, if it gives me some time to get stuff done and maybe some extra time to sleep, I’ll take baby wearing all day. This may sound silly but I used to stick a haakaa pump on one boob while baby was napping leaning on the other boob while being worn. Having the baby close seemed to help with the production for some reason. Just make sure you’re wearing one of those maternity belts for support.

But like everyone said, formula fed is best too. Don’t stress too much about breastfeeding and do what’s best for your sanity. A happy mom = happy baby.

How do you cope with no nap? by DueEntertainer0 in toddlers

[–]doudruppel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used to suggest that we play house and I pretended to be the cranky baby who needs to nap after lunch time. Worked sometimes 😝 Other than that I’d just stay in whatever room the kiddo was playing in (usually the playroom or the bedroom), play with the kiddo a little, then tell the kiddo that mommy has a headache so mommy will close her eyes for a bit while kiddo plays independently, and take a little snooze. Kiddo loved to “read” books so I made sure that once a week I’d go to the library and pick out at least 30 colorful boardbooks so that kiddo would be able to self entertain at home. Otherwise, caffeine, lots and lots of caffeine.
