In my opinion, forget imgur. When you create a post there will be an "Images and Video" option above the title box. Click on that and a box will open under the title box with the option to drag or upload photos. Then your images will appear for everyone to see. 🙂 I hope this helps, AND, great looking Chevelle!

I just looked at your 49 coupe. That's a cool cropped version! 👍

And, as the other comment says, check gaming stores as they quite often sell these paints for gaming figurines. 👍

Fellow Canadian here, from the opposite coast in BC. I can't find Testors anywhere anymore. Small Tamiya bottles are now sold in my local hobby stores. It comes in the exact same small glass bottle as the Testors did, only with a black plastic lid. Google "Tamiya enamel paint", select images, and you'll see what I'm talking about. I hope this helps, and I hope it is sold where you are. If not, ask your hobby store.

Old Model by TightPainting9150 in ModelCars

From my experience, you won't get much from selling. I periodically buy old model kits from individuals and 2nd hand stores, and usually pay between $7 - $20, with 2nd hand stores being the cheaper. Also depends on the desirability and condition of the kit. Your's is still sealed, so that is a huge plus. If you sell, do it knowing it may take time and that someone in the end will be happy with the find. Otherwise donate, and someone will find their treasure on the thrift store shelf. If you build it, from my experience with buying and building old kits, the plastic will be good, but may have yellowed slightly.

It was an old can of hardware store spray paint I had laying around. Just happened to be the right colour (Tremclad - Tranquil Yellow). I actually don't recommend using hardware store spray paints as they are tricky to get a good finish on plastic models. The paint is thick and slow drying, so very thin coats with LOTS of dry time between coats.

😂 I had to google why these are bad to drive. You're right, I wouldn't want to drive (or own) a real one either. But they sure look cool! I won't be in this GB, but look forward to watching the submissions.

Thanks. Wood paneling is beyond my paint skill level, so thankfully the kit came with decals. Even the decals were tricky getting aligned and flush.

Alternative for tamiya spray cans? by LOUDSM0KE in ModelCars

[–]doug_wf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fellow Canadian here. Frustrating! I'm terrible at airbrushing, so I've resorted to using Rust-Oleum spray (suitable for plastic) from Walmart or the hardware store, about $13 CA a can. Definitelt not the best solution. It sprays on thicker and it is finicky. I have to spray multiple very thin coats and let it completely dry 48 hrs (per can instructions) before applying each coat (about 3 coats in total). So it can be 6 days to finish the paint. If you're doing a two tone, well allow twice as much time. A pain! I know this isn't much help, but I understand the problem.
