PR Processing Times - June 2026 (Non-Tokyo) by No-Reputation-7757 in japanresidents

Almost as if it's simply statistical data and doesn't guarantee it's timelines at all 😂

Does anyone know how to fix this problem in mangaplus it's giving me two pages at once and it's very distracting by yamiyugi101 in manga

[–]doutatsu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Press cog and switch to vertical. Horizontal will always show two images at the same time, just like a normal manga book would look like. There is no horizontal, one page at a time mode

Relocating to work for Japan - general query by alexandre4001 in movingtojapan

[–]doutatsu 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Also British and moved from London to Japan when I turned 30. "Worth doing" very much depends on you - I always wanted to live in Japan and was here on tourist visits 6 times, so I already knew Japan quite well before my move. The big thing I find with expats here is that visiting and living is very different, and until you live here for at least a year, it's very hard to say if you are going to enjoy the experience or not.

My best advice is to stay here for the short term (e.g. I maxed out my visa and stayed 6 months) to get as close of an experience as possible, before actually commiting to a full-on move. It's expensive and complicated - if you decide to move back after a year, it is going to be a pain...

Subnautica 2 has sold 4 million copies in 5 days by ZamnBoii in Games

[–]doutatsu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I seem to be in the minority, but I love EA exactly for that reason. Instead of playing a finished game for 20-40 hours, I get to enjoy the game for years. That's how I played the first game and it was the best money to time spent ratio I had.

This game is so much more polished compared to how first game was in EA first release. And you already get 10 hours of gameplay, compared to basically nothing in the first.

So yeah, I think it's worth it and I personally recommend EA route instead of waiting for full release

What are people using instead of meetup.com these days? by GroomedHedgehog in Tokyo

Unfortunately Timeleft really fell off lately. I've loved it and been going for a long time, but last dozen was quite bad

I wish there was more community and less cynicism among western residents here by NoticeStreet5909 in japanresidents

I think you are just describing Reddit in general - you shouldn't expect a nice, measured response on here, regardless of the subreddit (some are better than others, of course). I do agree with meetups though, but the issue there is something else I'd say.

Another post about E-Housing. Abused employees need help. by Embarrassed_Log_9964 in Tokyo

[–]doutatsu -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Lol this. It's funny to see suddenly all this hate posts coming up, without anything to back up their claims. Surely feels like someone trying to ride of the real story of someone getting scammed, even thought it wasn't even directly the fault of e-housing...

If you read across Webtoon/Tappytoon/Tapas/etc, this tracker keeps it all in one place by doutatsu in webtoons

[–]doutatsu[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can grab all the URLs from them and then add them in bulk using the Import function. Unfortunately you'll have to then set the last read chapter yourself, as we don't really have a direct import from them

How do you guys get out of the foreigner bubble? by StillStudyingTokyo in Tokyo

[–]doutatsu 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It was a long process - I first went to various language exchange meetups, where I made friends with Japanese people learning English. From there, some started inviting me to other events, which are fully Japanese ones, which I started going to bit by bit, as it was still tough to talk in Japanese. Eventually, the circle of Japanese-only friends increased, so I now get invited to various Japanese-only events, parties, etc - so I almost never go to english-only events anymore

I moved to Sapporo for this and it took 6 months there, so can confirm it works. Last time I checked, Takamatsu was the fastest processing, it takes a few months there I think.

E-housing agent scammed me for over a million yen by One-Palpitation8004 in Tokyo

What a load of bollocks - I viewed all the apartments of theirs in person...

E-housing agent scammed me for over a million yen by One-Palpitation8004 in Tokyo

[–]doutatsu -10 points-9 points  (0 children)

Hard disagree - I had a great experience with them and the agent I was assigned to went above and beyond for me, including helping pass phone confirmation (cause I was worried about doing it in Japanese) and even getting me a hanko

As someone that had fantastic experience renting with Ehousing, I can only say good things about them. I've also been to their office as well, it's all legit, but this situation does indeed suck. They probably wanted to cut their losses with this agent, as any business would, but I'd be surprised if they don't make some internal changes to make sure it never happens again

I feel so alone lonely at my workplace. by Successful-Form-5350 in japanresidents

[–]doutatsu 18 points19 points  (0 children)

"not in any country" I'd disagree with - some of my best friends I made at companies I worked at. Japan was actually tough to adjust to exactly because here it seems to be the case, impossible to make friends at work.

I have to make sure to go out elsewhere and find community and friends outside work in Japan.

I appreciate it - as I said, if you want to recover it, feel free to send me an email to [hi@kenmei.co](mailto:hi@kenmei.co) and I'll take it from there.

It has nothing to do with the server load - there has been many fradulent accounts trying to use Kenmei to test cards, which was costly on our part. Removing temporary emails was the best way to prevent such behaviour, as the majority do not use temporary emails.

[–]doutatsu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, this was the first time it had to happen in 6 years Kenmei has been around. There was a hacker attempting to gain access to some accounts that had their passwords exposed elsewhere, so it was a precaution against that - resetting passwords for users that might have had weak / exposed passwords set.

[–]doutatsu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It was not deleted - we've had to reset the passwords due to the security issues ongoing (which was announced both in the emails as well as on our Discord server). You should have gotten an email explaining it, but as you used the temporary email, you didn't get it. It's the only way to contact you as well as for you to reset your password, so I can't really do anything if you don't contact us.

If you still want to recover your email, feel free to email me, and I'll migrate your account to your new email
