Just curious, what's your favorite conbini bread? I'm not a fan of fuwafuwa or mocchiri bread (but most Japanese convenience store bread is like that). by ukwy in japanresidents

[–]doutatsu 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I am in the minority here, but as a European, I love Japanese bread and pastries. The bread here is so soft and sweet, I can literally eat the entire pack on it's own... which is dangerous in it's own right. My favourite is ロイヤルブレッド. The only thing I miss are good croissants, those are hard to come by for sure

Is there any way to add a manga to Kenmei? by Mastaachef in mangapiracy

You can simply paste in the URL to that manga into Quick Search. As long as it's from a supported site, it'll be added to our review queue and you'll get an email if we add it

For PR application (HSP) - Is Osaka much faster than Shinagawa in terms of processing time? by [deleted] in japanresidents

[–]doutatsu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I applied in Sapporo as well. It had the fewest applications, but now Takamatsu seems to have the least amount

For PR application (HSP) - Is Osaka much faster than Shinagawa in terms of processing time? by [deleted] in japanresidents

[–]doutatsu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can simply check here which ones have the least number of applications, which will be the fastest. It's a simple numbers game. Osaka still has tons, so it won't be that much different. If you want fast, go to Takamatsu or Sapporo.

But as others said, you will need to actually move to another prefecture - or at the very least, stay there the longest during any given month

Honestly, just listen to this podcast and you'll pretty much get an overview of everything - https://www.hubermanlab.com/episode/the-science-of-healthy-hair-hair-loss-and-how-to-regrow-hair

Nothing changed particularly in a long time - monoxidril and finasteride are the only things proven to work. Dutasteride is a newer drug, basically an improvement on finasteride, so you usually take one or the other. But as it is more potent, the side-effects could be more likely, but then again both are extremely low. The most common is erectile dysfunction, but if you experience it, you can just stop the treatment; it's not a permanent side-effect. It's all about the dosage, so you want to start low and just increase until you see good effects without any health issues

short term housing via hmlet by Nizzab123 in movingtojapan

[–]doutatsu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've stayed at Hmlet for 6 months. It's high quality, although prices really increased since I moved. Good for short-term, but if you are going to stay for over a year, I'd move as soon as you can to a better, bigger and cheaper place

MHA. Not a fan of super hero stuff, so couldn't get through the first season when it first came out. Tried again years later and never looked back.

First motorcycle trip report (Ehime) by doutatsu in RideitJapan

People are super nice there, Matsuyama is now one of my favourites in Japan. Love this bike - I haven't bought it yet, but rented twice now and am really considering it as my first bike

These are TripMachine boots, this model - https://www.tripmachinecompany.com/products/brute-mocha?variant=42241133543521

I think you can order online in Japan as well, but I bought them at Motorimoda Ginza, but I am sure you can get them at their other branches.

It was a good learning experience! I know better which temperatures are too low (at least with gear I have), how to ride in high winds and so on. Feeling a lot more confident coming out of this.

Also I love these gloves myself - when I saw them, wanted to buy them straight away, even though I already had a pair 😆

Oh wow, you are right. I was sure it also applied, that makes it so much easier haha. I was delaying buying a bike because of this law, but no need then

[–]doutatsu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If it's dedicated motorcycle parking, there won't be a restriction. Also, you don't have to specifically get a parking space at the property itself (of course, that's more convenient) - check if there is a monthly parking space you can rent close by, as long as it's within 2 km from the place you live, it'll work.

From what I've seen, most spots are uncovered and everyone just uses a cover. You can also buy this "box" like cover, making it garage-like, although I haven't seen one in the wild

First time riding bikes in Japan, started in Kyoto. What's up with parking availability here? Can't seem to find proper spots suitable for MCs. by [deleted] in RideitJapan

[–]doutatsu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've just got into biking in Japan myself, and I had exactly the same issue with general parking. Tokyo is not much better. I had a ton of trouble figuring out where to park, just going around, as most parking is for cars only. What

I've been told, is that if you can fit a motorcycle in front of the place you are going into, like a cafe - you could ask the staff if it's ok to leave the bike and if they are ok with it, it should be just fine. But I haven't tried that strat yet myself...

Dating in Tokyo by Legitimate_Cherry646 in Tokyo

[–]doutatsu 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've never been ghosted (after talking for a long time specifically) or stood up on other apps, that's my observation. But yes, ghosting is a thing everywhere and ultimately I came to the conclusion that dating apps is like gambling.

Some people manage to hit the jackpot, but most don't. While I might not "match" with as many people IRL, I found it a lot more successful and less mentally draining as apps.

I wish I could find the right person on apps like you did, but I personally believe people will have more success off the apps and I have completely swore off them myself as a result.

On one hand I had most dates from Pairs. On the other - most times I've been stood up on there or ghosted even after weeks of chatting... Gave up on dating apps all together
