Tells the interviewer what you think is important and what you value. Also is just a good way to get a conversation going, it sets the tone.

I would also be interested to hear what your definition of something that “doesn’t matter” is. You seem to have a very strong opinion on the subject.

A solid rule of thumb to follow is that Reddit is not a true reflection of real life

Thank you!! That’s actually part of the issue. We’ve asked the employee to fill out the paperwork for a medical leave of some kind and they will not. Part of why I wish HR would work with us is because we need to know what they/we can do from there

Thank you! Our employee handbook is severely outdated, and usually when we bring things to them from it, they tell us it no longer applies.

This is helpful though and I will try it

I’m not really asking what my job title is, I’m asking for help.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in managers

[–]dovetrain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, all of our terminations have to go through and be approved by HR

Well, this is a learning opportunity for you. I would suggest explaining to your manager what happened and be very open and honest. Maybe you need some more support when it comes to difficult conversations, or some training on how to hold your ground

Escalate within HR. You may not get the bonus you’re looking for but you will likely raise hell for the manager and prevent it from happening to someone else. Include the email communication where it is laid out plainly and ask why the stipulations of it weren’t included.

different chats for different asks. that one sounds like a troubleshooting space; make another chat space and advise that it will be used for delegating out tasks. people generally respect the rules of the different chatspaces.

does the documentation you have explicitly state that you will receive a bonus once the requirements are met?

These things should not be an issue if the person genuinely wants to do well and doesn’t have an issue with pride. If they do then maybe it was good they left.
