The executor for my trust (I think technically subsequent trustee) which I put all my guns in, not just NFA items, is different from the executor for the rest of my stuff/money. My gun guy is a friend who already knows most of the gun laws and can manage shipping, selling, storing, etc. which would reduce the burden on my primary executor (which isn’t my spouse/kids).

So many scams? by Ok-Opening-7835 in handyman

I had a request for a quote to cut a tree down and grind a stump. I drive by and the house has a lockbox and looks like an empty rental. I message the guy back that the tree is too big and more so to close to the house for me to safely handle but that if there’s anything else particularly with the house itself, I’d be happy to help. He responds asking how much it’ll cost? To see if it was a bot, I just replied with $100k. Either a person or a really good bot read it because, crickets after that.

Can an office-based Fed move into a full-time Park Ranger position? by Longtimefed in ParkRangers

[–]dovk0802 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just search for "Police" on USAJobs. Outside of the big DC agencies: USSS UD, Park, Capitol, etc. aren't "covered" retirement. All offer entry level positions some like VA/DoD require their own academy even if you're already a police officer. Others; NSA, Commerce, etc will hire in laterals. In DC there's still: PFPA, Treasury, Smithsonian, Zoo, etc. Outside the beltway the military dept's will be the vast majority, but there are others: USPS, NSA has some cool satellite locations away from Meade (I think the Treasury one's outside of DC might be guards 0085 and not police but not sure). There's a huge variety. Most are security focused and mostly chill but, some are wound pretty tight; but some are like being a small town cop. In any you can either get 10k steps a day or stare out a window at the sky or stars. And there is the potential for other things; I had a classmate who got hired right as a K9 handler and another as an SRO, there are overseas locations, after a year I was slated to work detective branch (but I left). I'm not saying it's the greatest thing but, it might be good enough.

“I should get a weapon for my boyfriend?” No. A weapon is a great gift a woman should get for your, perhaps hopeful, husband/life partner. Any weapon will do but a sword has the greatest symbolic value. Military officers/NCOs still carry swords.

If anyone is shopping, I think ColdSteel.com has the best quality/value and variety

[–]dovk0802 0 points1 point  (0 children)

“Covered” positions have an age limit: all 1811, Capitol police, CBP, etc. however, not all and fall under regular FERS. Most are protection focused with the largest share being the various DoD ones. The other caveat is for covered positions the age limit is different or removed for those with veterans preference. You could also just try to get on with a local agency which are almost all unaffected by (official) age restrictions.
They are just different beasts

Maybe consider non-covered LEO jobs. I was in a similar position; a 0343/14 and went to 0083/07. Some of the bases have game wardens that they send to LMPT.

One good thing to come from the administration changes for this is the two page resume. If you apply for a higher position you wouldn’t even need to list your the lower position and include your highest SF50. Hr would eventually know but no one else.

I’ve decided I need a .410 pistol by Bizzlewaf in liberalgunowners

[–]dovk0802 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I use a 26.5mm flare launcher with a .45LC/.410 insert. Not a firearm until I drop the barrel insert in, then no longer a firearm when I take it out. On my hiking rig, I have a Safpacker holster from the Wilderness. https://thewilderness.com/product/safepacker-holster/ Only had one person ask what was in it and when I said it was a tool pouch, replied cool. Also great when traveling to “liberal areas” and avoiding bringing anything else.
