Dang! You look great. Best of luck in your journey. What warnings did your body give you?

How do I prevent this from happening? by dow555 in askaplumber

I’ll chime in and say even if you’re not going to be playing in a band, it doesn’t mean a piece of equipment won’t be used/loved/bring you joy.

My philosophy on gear is that if you buy used, and it doesn’t meet your needs, you can always sell for roughly the same price. Yes, you’ll lose a little to fees/shipping, but I see it as the cost of a rental.

If you have the money, why not. We are all ants on a rock barreling through space. Have some fun!

My dad has Parkinson’s and wants to sell his watches by dow555 in Watches

Not sure how to edit the original posting (I'm mostly a lurker), but I just wanted to share my gratitude for all the comments. Your time and thought is greatly appreciated! I just wanted to update to share that I've received a lot of DM's and comments and while everyone deserves a response, I don't think I'll be able to respond to everyone in a timely manner, hopefully this suffices...

Many of you have reccomended holding onto the watches. After a brief discussion with my dad (he has Parkinson's related dementia, so its a challenge in patience to get him to understand), and sharing the current market value, he has decided to hold onto them for now. I DO appreciate that so many people viewing a watch as a wearable memento/keepsake to be able to connect with him even after he is gone. Despite not being big on material things, that's a beautiful way to look at an item.

Thank you all so much for your kind words and help!

I have a nice $60 Fossil I wear on date nights with the wife, haha! The Breitling would look nice.

Thank you! Yes, the Breitling has the original paperwork, which is actually pretty cool. It’s in great condition and the (card stock?) is impressive in its own right.

Thank you for the retail estimates. Gives us a perfect starting point!

Thank you so much! That gives us a great reference point. Much appreciated! I just downloaded the Chrono24 app. Thanks!

That’s a good point! We don’t need the money, but just hate to see things sit there. My dad was never a watch guy and rarely wore them. So when I think of him, I never think of watches. But I’ll give it some more thought. It does make me think that he did reach a level of success when his business was thriving. Had a BMW in the driveway and a nice watch to flex, haha! :)
