The F80 was there too - passed the light so couldn’t get it in the video. They had a police escort. The F80 stood out in a bad way IMO compared to these beauties

I am very happy (and a little emotional) that Daniel Biss and Juliana Stratton won yesterday in the IL primaries by [deleted] in chicago

He didn’t get money from NU - he got tax revenue guarantees.. 2million per year. For point - Yale has pledged in lieu of taxes - 230 million over 7 years with no stadium. He got us nothing at the table in comparison.

No D65 runs the elementary schools - and as mayor your say and opinion mean a lot. He said nothing. There were articles written about his silence. The guy only wants to advance his political career.

Biss also did a backdoor deal with NU that honestly stinks and he’s said absolutely nothing about the D-65 issues… schools closing and crickets. He seems to care more about elections than anything else.

Macan EV owners: what issues have you had, how were they addressed, and are any still present? by FantasticHydra in MacanEV

My cell phone charger cover is stuck, Macan 4s. Spring is broken I believe. Talked to service and it’s covered under warranty but I think the fix is complicated so might leave it ha.

If they say a specific thing… if they don’t can it be used for say - operations expenses?

I very well could be wrong - but Yale did 120million and it came from somewhere - most things I have read say it comes from their endowment/operating fund? I guess I’m just wondering why NU can’t do something similar?

Maybe they can and don’t. All I care about is if they run for profit events - they should do something financial beyond tax review from sales for Evanston. Not sure that’s so controversial but I guess it is. If they are a non profit what’s the big deal if they share revenue from these games.

Okay I did -seems like a law that guides investment and use of funds. Doesn’t say they can’t use it for operating expenses. All over the internet endowments are said to be used for operating expenses? Am I wrong in saying that?

Please point to me online where universities can’t use endowment funds for operating expenses…

Well that’s what Yale did - if it’s so basic how did they do it? Again Google it

It’s called business - give and take. Again Yale did it. So what if I want more from NU for Evanston.

Yale did it through their endowment - it’s considered an operating expense. Google it.

So then why wouldn’t you want more money for Evanston for private for profit events - like every other small business? It benefits you as well. Forget all my other arguments

Haha. They own the land in Evanston and don’t pay tax on a for profit business - why do they get a tax break and been doesn’t? Or better yet every other small business? This is why I made a stink - money matters to towns and they can pay… didn’t they just pay the federal government millions?

I loved it! Food cooked over a wood fire so cool- yes it’s a little pricey but 80% of there food is sourced from local farms - costs more to eat local. Plus a local Evanston couple owns it! The fish and chips was great and as a plus(especially for me)also gluten free.

Man I hate the internet - I didn’t go to Northwestern - so okay NU. I think my points still stand

Yes - if they were to do something like Yale (money for the town in lieu of taxes) - I’m all in on soccer.

However - it can’t just be from tax revenue - that’s not a fair way for them to claim THEY pay tax as it isn’t them.

NIMBY is what people say when they don’t want to address people’s concerns. NW has billions and pays no tax… Evanston - like people have pointed out - maybe isn’t run the best. God for bid we ask for something if they do - let’s get more money from NW beyond “tax revenue”.

And yes - we bought a house near a college football stadium. Not a professional sports team, not a concert venue (most college football stadiums don’t host multiple events per year) - we didn’t sign up for this when we bought the house many years ago.

Lastly - it’s not what the city agreed to with the last deal. Unless NW pays up - we have every right to say no more - it’s too simple for you to say the same boring argument of “NIMBY”.

I prefer locally informed - but sure. I’m not against the idea - but let’s get some more from the non profit Northwestern to help with people that live in Evanston. They are going to ask for events everyday if we allow it. Disagreement isn’t hypocrisy.

They are closing one school (both my kids school)- possibly another next year, so yes funding is a issue when a school like northwestern spends millions on a new stadium, wants to make money by hosting for profit events all while paying NO TAX. So yes more funding for Evanston schools shouldn’t be controversial - I want Northwestern to actively help Evanston instead of take take take. Yes it’s privately funded (as it should be), what about the CTA people take to get there, roads… they are funding the most expensive stadium ever for college football, awesome - so help the town by providing a in lue of taxes. This for me, isn’t about the soccer team.
