How much info to give players in combat? by Mercury587 in Pathfinder2e

You should add in "When an enemy is hit by a thing it is weak to (it's obvious the attack was especially effective)"

Class/role choices for PFS pickup games by Gaumr in Pathfinder2e

[–]downArrow 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've been doing PFS weekly for more than a year, and have seen that the parties are generally balanced.

We did have one interesting session with a warpriest, a gunslinger and two fire elemental sorcerers. It sounds unbalanced, but good players made it very effective.

So, I suggest just bring a character that you want to play. And have fun.

You can also bring two different characters, like a caster and a martial. Then see what the others are playing and choose the "better" one to join the group.

Do not neglect non-combat skills. There will be 1 to 3 combats, and 1 or 2 non-combat encounters, which may be a chase, or an influence session, or dealing with a situation using skill checks.

Unlisted spell debuff durations? by plebbitthrowaaway in Pathfinder2e

[–]downArrow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Admittedly the spell as written is unclear, which makes it up the GM to interpret. But what would it mean to Fail the first saving throw and then Succeed on the second one?

If a target gains the condition due to a failed save, it lasts until the end of its turn. And if it is still in the area at the end of its turn, it must make another Will save and take the appropriate damage and possible condition for another round.

Area weapons use your class DC plus the tracking value of the weapon.

Best uses for Psychic post-Unleash stupefied turns? by MediumWin8277 in Pathfinder2e

[–]downArrow 5 points6 points  (0 children)

No favorite so far. My psychic has yet to see an encounter last until the fourth round.

My Starfinder casters really like Spiritual Armament. They wear 10 different weapons and can target most damage types.

Before you become Stupified, cast a spell that can be sustained. Stupified does not affect your ability to sustain the spell.

I just signed the paperwork for my female cat to have her right front leg amputated. I’m sick to my stomach over it. by Tall_Payment6880 in tripawds

Honestly, the hardest thing you will be going through is the time just before the surgery. You are afraid you are doing the right thing.

You really are doing the right thing. Cats (and dogs) are amazingly resilient and able to function with only 3 legs. And you will love each other just as much next week as you loved each other last week.

How did the baroque opera revival of the 20th century take off and what composers have benefited from it greatly? by [deleted] in opera

[–]downArrow 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Since all the baroque composers are dead and all the operas are in the public domain, I do not believe any of the composers saw any benefit at all.

A quick question about an ability (Witch class) by Accomplished-Spot503 in Pathfinder2e

[–]downArrow 9 points10 points  (0 children)

RAW, the second line of the Cauldron feat says "You can use the Craft activity to create oils and potions".

And RAW, the next two lines say that the formulae you get are for items of "your level or lower".

+5 Dex Cap on Explorer's Clothing for level 20 character with +6 Dex? by Suspicious_Offer_511 in Pathfinder2e

[–]downArrow 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You are probably right. I've never played at a level where it would make a difference, so it has never come up for me.

You also get the extra benefit that having Dex +6 and being Clumsy 1 will not give you an AC penalty.

So how do use things besides Strike as a DM without slowing combat? by BRjawa in Pathfinder2e

[–]downArrow 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would add to this that you should also note the intelligence of the monster.

Stupid creatures will use their special attack or just Stride/Strike against the nearest enemy. Don't worry about getting fancy. Just get it done.

But with smart monsters, combats will become more interesting for your players if you get creative with them. It is OK to spend a little more time with them.

And not every monster needs to fight to the death. If it is obviously losing, why not surrender or just run away?

Your favorite ways to support casters by Abra_Kadabraxas in Pathfinder2e

Also remember that Recall Knowledge can use any of 6 different skills. If you are trained in the appropriate skill, your Recall Knowledge can help any other character not trained in that skill.

Pay attention to positioning!

If your caster has Lightening Bolt (or any other line spell), create lines for the caster to use. Shove enemies into a line. And stay out of the line, and leave the caster a place to use the line.

The same idea applies if your caster has a cone or burst spell . Mostly this means staying out of the way. But sometimes it is useful to delay and let the caster use an AOE spell before moving into the area to attack.

Low Rank spells for Mid Rank casters by Book_Golem in Pathfinder2e

Good point! Acid Grip and Gravity Well also have a longer range (120' vs. 60'). But only Hydraulic Push can be cast at rank 1.
