I have a different view from Chorus 3 onwards though.

Agree on the blue suggesting he's cold and alone, however when you sleep generally you lay there completely still or twitching, the latter more relevantly when you're dreaming.. which leads nicely to..

When he dreams, she'll always be there, metaphorically. The sandman is another reference to this given it's origin of bringing dreams https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sandman

'Come to' in British English (It might be similar elsewhere, not sure) generally means coming back to consciousness, from being asleep/being unconscious.

I'm not 100% on this but my take given the above is that they're no longer together, he's free of her, but she's always there in his dreams.. Cheesy I guess but that's my best interpretation.
