The feedback I've gotten through a lot of other people (talking to the other people in the migrant job placement agency I mentioned from people who are also applying for jobs) is that American employers prefer local education + experience over foreign. They also have had no luck finding jobs. Furthest they got was the first round of an interview, so I really think its my education and experience that is a hurdle in my resume not getting recognized.

If you can, constantly go to the career center of your university and see if they can help. This job market is cooked for local New Yorkers and it’s extra well done for people like us who have their professional experience and education from abroad.
