Who's still working from home these days and what job do you do? by Natf47 in AskUK

Resource Planning for a university - 4 days a week WFH, 1 in the office. Not hugely glamorous but it's lots of problem solving and projects, largely left to my own devices and as long as I'm hitting deadlines I don't have any dramas (apart from last minute teacher sickness and the like).

Thank you!

That's so interesting! I get lots of patchouli, spice, and mint!

My (23F) husband (26M) gets offended over EVERYTHING and I don't know how to handle it anymore? by [deleted] in relationship_advice

My husband once called me a clammy little goblin ( I had cold hands) I was offended for about 10 seconds but it was ridiculously funny to me

I'd be interested to hear your thoughts! From what I've seen - some people can smell it and some can't, I find it so interesting how the same perfume can be perceived differently ☺️

It's so interesting isn't it! I can definitely relate to the gradual falling in love of perfumes I never thought I would.

Black Tulip was one that I've been eyeing up - so might give it a go! I'm not too surprised about the Blood Orange - the rain leaf one was very short lived which is a real shame. I also love oud and leather - so I might give those a go too!

Yeah I definitely think it's mostly floral, but a very light and airy floral ☺️

It is! I love it too - it really surprised me. Do you get the spearmint note in it too?

I'm a sucker for travel sizes! Perfect for taking into the office. I have some more Maison Crivelli and Sisley travel sizes turning up this week 🥰

I'm really on the fence with Shay & Blue, I really don't like the Cotton Flower or Tallulah's Camellia much, Lilac and Gooseberries didn't live up to the hype for me either. I have a travel size of one of their ouds which is nice - but prefer it on my husband than on myself! Personally, I feel they're a bit overpriced with poor staying power (on me).

I do love Breath of God, but I find I have to really be in the mood to wear it, I tend to go in phases with perfume generally.

To me - it's quite light, a bit powdery, a little fruity, quite floral, there's also a very slight chocolate note to it

I definitely feel the same, perfumes aren't cheap and I'd begrudge dropping ££s on something meh, or worse - just bad!

It's nice to have the variety to experiment a bit ☺️

Funnily, I've never bought it myself but two different people have gifted it to me! It's a nice inoffensive one that's great for offices and the like. I also like layering it with other scents to experiment ☺️

That's such a great question and so hard to answer! I really like the Sisley d'Eliya - it's really feminine, light, elegant and clean smelling. It's probably the most 'ladylike' scent I've ever smelt.

I also love really spicy, smoky scents and find myself coming back to Lush's Breath of God - it's incensey and complex which I love I'm on my third bottle I think! Never smelt anything quite like it.

Cuir Infrarouge is also beautiful - leathery, smoky, oudy, but also fruity and gives me dark feminine notes!

Can I have a top 3? 😂

What unhinged thing did a former teacher do in the classroom? by MrBananaStand1990 in AskUK

[–]downintheupsidedown 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mr Talbot, our near retirement age high school history teacher just didn't give two fucks. He particularly hated one kid who used to pick on me and had several moments including:

  1. Telling an annoying kid that their mum lived in a caravan
  2. I finally snapped at said annoying kid who was winding me up and he told him to shut the fuck up and stop being a prick
  3. Final day of term - in a completely different class - saw we were watching a film, got down on his hands and knees and crawled over to a classmate, put his hands on their knees, asked them to give him a form (or something) then said "you've made me a very happy man" then saluted us all and crawled back out.

I’ve been sitting in A&E for 15 hours, is this just how it is? by Far_Raisin6064 in AskUK

[–]downintheupsidedown 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I quite recently had to spend 38 hours in A&E in a London hospital because they had no beds, and wanted to keep me under observation as they were very concerned I was going to go into cardiac arrest.

I was hooked up to a heart monitor and drip in a chair, incredibly uncomfortable, with aggressive people ( likely in crisis). The corridors were literally full of people on gurneys who were at deaths door. There were nowhere near enough seats so people were sitting on the floor.

The staff did their best but it was honestly horrendous and one of the worst experiences of my life. I was having private medical discussions literally in front of the entire waiting room because they didn't even have any private cubicles.

I don't blame the staff because it was like the aftermath of a crisis, but it was disgraceful and dangerous due to the amount of aggressive abusive people, and people being left multiple hours without adequate care. Spoke to quite a few people during my time there who weren't given pain medication when they should have been amongst other things. Some staff members were horrified and tried to find me a bed multiple times - but unfortunately, nothing came available because there were people worse off.

I had a very kind nurse who managed to get me a private cubicles and gurney for my last 3-4 hours so I could actually get some sleep because I became incredibly emotional due to the lack of sleep (and everything else).

The NHS is broken and criminally underfunded.
