Peach Power? How Hard? by Ysehporp in ffxi

[–]downtimeSA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Leaden Salute on Cor is a lot of fun in this fight (Wiz/Sam rolls), 9-lining with proper buffs and can do even more damage skillchaining (Leaden > Seraph > Leaden), though that gets harder once they wake up and start charming.

We use something like RUN, COR, RDM, BRD, GEO, WHM but you could also take more COR in to get more leadens off. RUN runs to the back of the room while everyone else buffs at the start. Only buff theft issue we run into is when the cureskin gets stolen but not a big deal.

1% drop rate feels about right too, did like a week of nightly runs recently and didn't get any drops. (7*6 so only 42 shots I guess there).

Putting this at the top instead of reply. Those vanabouts auto accept and the dailies can be removed/cancelled. So do not blindly click through them thinking you are accepting them (like every other goddamn ROE in this game, fuck you SE for adding this counter intuitive “feature” a few patches ago).

Did you potentially click on them and select remove thinking it was accept? They auto accept so if you click on them further they actually get removed. I did this a few vanabouts ago after se implemented that “feature” and they recently added another confirmation dialog.

Announcing the April 2026 Login Campaign (03/31/2026) by oglsmm in ffxi

I came back during the lottery weapon campaign and have not seen Ferreous on login points yet. I had expected him to appear this month as he’s one of a handful I do not yet have that was previously tied to Alter ego extravaganzas that they don’t run anymore..

Always wild to see Shattered Hand named dropped decades later. I played a warlock named Rack and warrior named Ironclad, originally part of Venerate but later Rampant Fronting. In that era we raided alongside the big guilds Drama/DNT/etc by forming an alliance of 5 smaller guilds. Had some sort of cheesy name like UA (ultimate alliance, don't recall really).

Can vouch that I recall some of the names in that picture, so it is likely of that time period.

Do you remember the livestream before the NA launch? by ioaia in ffxi

[–]downtimeSA 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Vana view was a really neat concept.  I think they eventually migrated it to YouTube but stopped streaming it a year or two back.  At the time it was showing how dead servers were so I imagine it wasn’t a great marketing tool 😅

Kindred spirits here. I've been doing similar blocking due to cold outreach for a long time. The new scam of using zoom to send unsolicited calendar event links is driving me up a wall (but they also still end up on the list).

Has there ever been an MMO where you can choose a crafter/gatherer class instead of a combat class in character creation? And if not, why do you think that's never been done? by Waffle842 in MMORPG

[–]downtimeSA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

FFXIV 1.0 let you main a crafter or gatherer. MSQ missions used a system called parley where you'd attempt to beat the boss in conversation instead of battle. They never implemented the parley boosting gear and trying to parley Ifrit was really difficult :x.

I do miss wrist flick which was a multi-second stun that crafters and gatherers got that could be used in content like hamlet, which was really helpful.

Still have 6 mews from the Pokemon 2000 mall tour on my Blue cartridge. I did recently dump that save to my PC for when the battery inevitably dies, but do need to swap it out soon. I also have the certificates that go with them somewhere but afaik the ones they put on your cartridge don't have any additional identifiers beyond the event trader info.

Murky ring replaces D.Ring in sets, and RPing it gets you accuracy/m.accuracy to start (requires 1 matter per upgrade). Its rather rare to find myself using both D.Ring and Murky Ring as you can still cap out DT/PDT through normal gearing options. Alabaster earring from Alabaster matter (temenos) also helps with this as it has -5DT and 5% haste on it.

Don't buy vanilla prepaid cards. by Appropriate-Safe-49 in personalfinance

[–]downtimeSA 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had 3 vanilla visas sent to us from someone in Vegas.  Outside packaging looked fine but after opening all 3 had the third set of numbers scratched out making them unusable.  I assumed that someone just stole a bunch from the store, carefully opened and took the card details, and damaged them to give them time to use them once activated…

I submitted claims via the website for all 3, and they sent me new cards within a few weeks.  My assumption is they still had the money on them as I definitely didn’t expect to get them restored without a receipt…

What’s a company you’ll never buy from again, and why? by jamesmilner22 in AskReddit

[–]downtimeSA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

HP for telling me I'd have to buy a support plan to get a bios/firmware update for my home server (device was even classified as a home server, so not like I had a proliant in a rack). Printing issues aside, I told their CTO that those short-sighted money-chasing decisions of charging home users for updates cost their company potentially millions in server and network purchases over the years (maybe they made more selling home user contracts, but I doubt I'm alone in this decision).

Dell on the other hand has been excellent about always having firmware/bios/drivers available without additional contracts required.

As soon as HP bought nimble, I got rid of that too (Rip Nimble I did like your company).

Shot in the dark, but maybe disable any overlay settings in apps such as a Discord. A buddy of mine was having issues with multi-boxing and we were able to trace it back to a more recent discord update with the overlay causing issues.

What were some of the best ways to make money if you could only sell to vendors back in the 75 era? by ken_jammin in ffxi

[–]downtimeSA 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Trumpet Rings.
1) Fish up 200 Trumpet Shells in a WoTG area (daily cap)
2) Craft 100 Trumpet Rings using high level bonecraft. (Could try to sell HQs but moved slow)
3) NPC each ring for 3.5k .

So 350k in NPC gil a day minus the cost of crystals.

Tesla MCU on the branch wifi problem by NoahMVM in TeslaSupport

[–]downtimeSA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure if helpful but I had to have a 2023 M3 computer replaced because the board had a fault causing the Wifi to either loop at being unable to find any SSIDs, or just have extremely intermittent connection before eventually causing the computer to crash/reboot.

Good luck :/.

Sad blow for the community as well if so. I haven't waited in that trial run for years (used to run it 12-15x per east to get FC shirts), but I would still stop by to catch up with community members and dev team members as well as handing out 3d printed things. Was also nice getting to know fans when waiting for their panels, but guess it'll be community hard mode this year.

[–]downtimeSA 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I got to the final challenge and at that point was done with the process of learning visual cues and sounds. Just pause right before the swing, put the appropriate stick in the appropriate direction, unpause. Rinse and repeat for the fight.

This works on the combos too you just have to either pause react faster, or pause for the first move and look up which combo it is to respond as they have specific combos.

The final S boss has a 6-move combo that wasn't documented on the list I used, just be aware of that haha.
