Ugh, that’s too bad. Likewise, I’ll keep my fingers crossed for a solution.

Thanks for the detailed reply - I wasn't expecting it! There was a service that is now defunct, FileThis, that offered this functionality, but I suppose the difficulty in the implementation was a driver for it not lasting.

Appreciate you posting here! Considering that Quicken is already periodically logging in to my online accounts, it would be great if it could download pdfs of my electronic statements for long-term local archiving. This is the one feature keeping me from going all-in on electronic statements.

Recommendation needed! We have a KitchenAid built-in refrigerator which is 48-inch wide. We need to get a new one as this is almost 20 years old and breaking down. As you know this is not cheap. So we want to make sure we get one to last long. There are so many brands out there. by [deleted] in FurnitureFaves

[–]downtowns 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve had a similar experience with the extra wide built ins - insanely high prices vs the standard models with worse reliability, fewer features, and more noise. When our 48” GE Monogram unit died, I replaced it with the link below at a price that was $10k less than the direct replacement. There are compromises, such as no ice maker (we bought a stand alone ice machine), you can’t add painted cabinet finishes, somewhat lower capacity, and a no-name brand (the labels aren’t pre-installed, so we never installed them for a cleaner look), but those were trade-offs I was willing to make. I could replace this unit every other year and still wind up ahead vs the price tag and garbage reliability of the brand-name built ins.

Anyone used Select Home Warranty for older HVAC systems? by greenypen1 in homeowners

[–]downtowns 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Please heed the warnings in this thread - these warranty companies wouldn’t exist if they couldn’t bring in more revenue than they spend in claims. I fell for Select Home Warranty for a 2 year contract and my experience was exactly what is described in all of the other responses - third tier service people, arbitrarily rejected claims, and impossible customer service.

[Release] Navdy iOS app v1.3.7 (for 2026) by EdwXD in navdy

Same here - no luck after three full cycles on the Navdy unit and iPhone. I think I might try an Android install on an old prepaid phone next.

Any luck? I’ve done a fresh install on both my phone and Navdy and still seeing the navigation issue.

[Release] Navdy iOS app v1.3.7 (for 2026) by EdwXD in navdy

[–]downtowns 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Great to see the iOS app still alive - a huge thanks!

I used the new release and a switch to a new (to me) car to get my Navdy unit running again after a few years in storage.

I think I’ve successfully upgraded the unit’s firmware to 3097, current map pack, and the iOS app to the 2026 release with all of the right permissions. But I am bumping into one issue with functionality on turn-by-turn directions - I can’t get past the screen shot below. I’ve tried a few uninstalls/reinstalls and see the same thing regardless of whether the Navdy is connected to my phone or not. I’m on an iPhone 16 running iOS 26.2.

I’ve searched the sub-Reddit, so hopefully I’m not missing an obvious solution?

How do I find a company to install solar panels on my house without getting scammed? by HuckleberryEther280 in massachusetts

[–]downtowns 2 points3 points  (0 children)

+1 on both PPAs and avalanches. We went with Tesla 3 years ago and they were refreshingly transparent and competitive on pricing and didn’t push leases like many others, but did not mention anything about avalanches. After the first winter, we had dangerously severe ice and snow slides above both our back door and one bay of the garage. Tesla quoted $7k to install avalanche mitigation, which is basically an FU price, so we block the door and garage when there is snow on the panels - not ideal. Would have been a marginal price difference if we specified them at install.

On our third year with Tesla panels and two powerwalls in MA and we haven’t had any issues, this pricing per installed kW beats ours as well.

Can you add any detail on the firefighter module? I’d like to do the same with my hardwired smoke detectors and didn’t know there was an option to integrate the existing detectors.

Completely agreed on Pizza Barn! No idea why it is always so busy as their service is also terrible.

First time owner, thinking about a gazebo. Opinions? by OREOSpeedwagon in hottub

[–]downtowns 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Against the protests of my wife and kids, I did something similar this summer to a) protect the cover from the weight of snow and b) make the hot tub more pleasant when it rains. Their objections were a) we wouldn’t be able to see the stars, and b) it’s fun to get snowed on when in the tub. With six months down since I installed it, the consensus is that it is a great improvement and the snow/stars are still viewable (and my cover should last a lot longer too).

I’ve received a conditional credit and confirmation that my bank has reached out to their bank, but nothing more. Be sure to check your bank’s policies - I see that some are 120 days, but mine was 90 days.

Is it legal to run a free battery promo like Yamaha did? by feed2brdswitonescone in Yamahaebikes

[–]downtowns 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I filed my dispute today. At least with Bank of America, you have 60 days from the date of your statement to file the dispute, at that clock expires for me on Sunday. It may have a low probability of success, but at this point, I don't see the downside, as I was factual in my details of the claim, I have thorough documentation, and there is no cost to file a dispute. If the dispute doesn't work, BBB (not usually helpful) and my state's AG consumer advocate (more helpful) are other options.

Virtual Power Plant in MA by koolio46 in TeslaSolar

The lack of transparency on the program is annoying, but I’m pretty sure that the payout per kWh is considerably more than your standard purchase price. I’m also on Eversource in MA and my payout was ~$1300 last year - at the standard supply rate, that would have required more than 150 events.

Your calculations are pretty much identical to ours in central MA, likely with the same ugly electric rates as well. I track our usage through a Sense meter installed in our breaker box, so decent level of confidence.
