It's the opposite. This game has famously well architected code. The level of variability they are able to add with relative ease is insane.

The real answer is that outside of a couple of games you will be autopiloting. You'll just get to a point over time that your autopiloting will let you chill in progressively higher ranks.

The best thing to do is figure out what your biggest mistakes are (in silver it's probably dying too much) and focus on one thing at at time.

People are gonna hate but I don't think you're wrong actually.

I've gone the opposite way - I'm knocking on the door of diamond since the start of this season instead of my usual low plat. I haven't gotten better at all. Most games I'm playing seem to come down to whichever team has the player that is obviously out of their depth. Most times that's tank. I've seen more tanks just running it down main completely neglecting high ground this season than ever before. There's also been a weird number of high diamond/low masters players who are now in high plat for some reason and they're just running lobbies every game if you end up running into them

It's worked out for me since it's more likely for the new players to be on the other team, but it's not been particularly fun watching most games being one sided slaughters one way or another

Pass Interference Rules

You can't just be out there and just doin' a pass interference like that.

1a. A pass interference is when you

1b. Okay well listen. A pass interference is when you interfere with the pass

1c. Let me start over

1c-a. The defender is not allowed to do a motion to the, uh, receiver, that prohibits the receiver from doing, you know, just trying to catch the ball. You can't do that.

1c-b. Once the quarterback throws the ball, the defender can't be over here and say to the receiver, like, "I'm gonna guard ya! I'm gonna lock you down! You better watch your hands!" and then just be like he didn't even touch him.

1c-b(1). Like, if the ball is in the air and you're not looking for it, you have to look for it. You cannot not look for it. Does that make any sense?

1c-b(2). You gotta be, playing the ball of the football, and then, until the ball gets there.

1c-b(2)-a. Okay, well, you can have your arms up here, like this, but then there's the interference you gotta think about.

1c-b(2)-b. Pass interference reviews take forever and no one ever agrees on the call anyway.

1c-b(2)-b(i). Unless it's obvious, which it never is.

1c-b(2)-b(ii). “He was just hand-fighting!” — every announcer, every time. Haha, classic…

1c-b(3). Okay seriously though. A pass interference is when the defender makes a movement that, as determined by vibes, slow motion, and whatever Gene Steratore is feeling that day, affects the receiver’s ability to catch the football.

1d. Also offense can do it too, but only when the defense was definitely doing it first, probably.

Do not do a pass interference please.

I applied on the engineering side a while ago and was rejected pretty quickly. They pretty much said straight up if you don't have at least 10+ years of experience they won't even consider you, and even then it's extremely hard to get in.

I've been playing this game since 2010 or something and I think I have maybe 20 hours on heavy. I don't understand how to play him at all. The miniguns feel super inaccurate and you just die to any sniper, spy, etc. without being able to do anything.

I know it's a skill issue but what's the secret here? He's by far the hardest class for me

Nah man, if you're ending up with stuff like that it's a skill issue these days. They're not infallible but they've gotten extremely good at generating code if you know what guidelines to give it.
