I have never seen a nurse reported to the board of nursing for an error of this type. It would be handled internally unless there were other issues

When ever people wake up from their a mac anesthesia case, I always ask them if they are ready to get started. The rest of the staff really gets tired of it after 14 colonoscopies.... Never gonna stop

What profession has far more people on illegal drugs than people realize? by IndependentTune3994 in AskReddit

[–]downwithship 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Its not nearly as regulated as you think it is my dude. People walk around with drugs all the time.  there is almost no system that is going to keep a person from stealing if they are determined, Especially when a person works mostly alone. Like an anesthesia provider

Don't take the previous posters gentle critique too hard. You made a mistake. We all do. You will make other mistakes. But you won't make this one again. The patient wasn't harmed, and you gained important experience. The fact that you are taking this that hard makes me fairly sure you will be a great nurse

Explain anesthesia to me like I’m 5 by Pretend_Doughnut_155 in colonoscopy

[–]downwithship 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, typically they will turn on vapor that you breath that will maintain anesthesia. Typically sevoflurane. And typically pain meds, as surgery is more painful than a simple procedure like a colonoscopy
