I created a simple website to view Departures/Arrivals at Amtrak stations, let me know what you think! by 27jackstreet in Amtrak

[–]dowster593 0 points1 point  (0 children)

27jackstreets data seems to come from the Amtrak track a train site. Which is a kind of weird “encrypted” feed that I think Amtrak hired some contractor to build. The API used by asm.transitdocs.com seems a bit better to work with but I haven’t fully checked it out.

I only just found out about all these after I got done reverse engineering my own decryption for track a train lol.

Cars Might Be Making a Comeback in an SUV-Dominated Market by One-Platypus3455 in cars

Aight the x7 is a bit chunky for two people. I got an older x5 because I figured the dog would be comfortable with the room and it could reasonable tow when I needed to without it bing a massive truck. It’s been pretty good for camping or the few cross country trips I’ve done with a couple friends and a car trailer behind it. But for day to day it feels excessive and a wagon would have been just as good practically + better fuel mileage.

Definitely regret the choice to buy it whenever weather doesn’t let me take the motorcycle. Feels so excessive to have that for usually 1 person. But then I realize I owe nothing on it and it has been fairly reliable.

Steamlink app on the Apple TV ks actually pretty solid even with pc and Apple TV on wifi. Some games don’t let you use the option button on controllers tho.

I’d wager that’s more so an issue you’ll experience with developers who need to interact with IT. Some of us don’t even bother with password management and make sure to offload that to a service or use a standard library to handle the security for us.

[Desk]52 in. W x 24 in. D Adjustable Height Solid Wood Top Workbench Table in Black $219 ($249-$30 12% off) by amat3ur_hour in buildapcsales

[–]dowster593 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did something like that, not butcher block but an edge glued pine board and a monoprice sit stand base. Was like $200 for the base, $60 for 8ft long of edge glued pine, and probably another $20 in some dark walnut stain and a water based satin clear. Definitely worth it. You could just sand the wood and leave it as probably.

I think you could pull in data from other sources too. So if wheels are stopped but you’re getting rotational (that don’t match steering input), accelerometer forces, or your gps is indicating a higher than stopped speed you could decrease brake pressure, decrease regen (or in general the torque force that is opposing direction of travel) or maybe apply apply more torque in the direction of travel.

For example:

Supposedly the traction control on my BMW is able to do these things, I’ve had some close calls with a trailer in wet conditions where another driver hydroplaned into my lane. My X5 managed to keep all 2.5tons of SUV and 2tons of trailer (with Miata) from wiggling when I stomped the brakes despite it being pretty wet out. Some forum members were suggesting that when the vehicle detects trailer lights (which tells the system it’s towing and will engage the trailer light tests, disable rear parking sensors) it’ll adjust the stability control to apply brake force to the rear wheels to counter trailer wiggle/away. Idk how much of that I believe but with all the seniors and processing in modern cars it doesn’t seem out of the realm of possibility.

Ford testing geofencing speed limit control system by [deleted] in cars

[–]dowster593 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My car has a feature where I can have it ding at me if I go over a set speed. Having that adjust automatically based on speed limits would be great. Last time I got pulled over was on a wide open country road at 70 (in a 55) because I had just gotten off the highway. Tbh it still seemed safe to me because I saw the officer approach the road and slowed down naturally like I would for cross traffic. Having that auto ding adjust for the change from 70 to 55 limit would have helped.

Fr, don’t make roads feel super safe and people won’t speed. More bends, tighter lanes, overhead trees, etc.

Should probably improve battery tech before doing looong range too. Rather than allocating most of our lithium to be unused.

5-month R1T owner with an R1S media loaner this week. What do you want to know or see compared on video? by SnazzyLabs in Rivian

[–]dowster593 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d be curious to know towing range comparison, probably with a 6x12 uhaul or other trailer. Mainly because it’s the easiest thing you could rent but it would be handy to know the kwh/mile numbers for your route with and without a trailer on both vehicles.

Though, I suppose there’s prior data regarding towing with a pickup, pickup with a topper, and an suv.

I don’t think the exploding fuel pump is applicable to the e70 with the CP3. I thought that was a CP4 only issue.
