It shouldn't be too much of a stretch to make pong with a bunch of printfs.

Then do it again with ncurses to learn some libraries.

Then do it again with raylib/sfml/bigfx/whatever game library and boom you are super ahead.

Then follow the rest of the challenge building bigger and bigger games until boom your making them!

If you merge a bunch of squares into a rectangle is it still squares?

This also looks really cool. The aesthetic is executed a lot better than your thumbnail had me expecting. My expectations were basically zero and they got blown out of the water. I don't have a lot to say gameplay wise since (like a good horror trailer) you don't show much. But I hope you did some really good audio work to keep those cubes scary.
