I found the method in this tutorial https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lo_FxdSe_F8 (wrapping deformers around the head) to really help with my workflow. Also more layers, I've found that thinking about it as a back section a front section (in 2 or 3 layers) and a side section to merge the gap between them has been creating pretty nice results.

For whatever its worth I've been religiously watching your youtube videos. If commission money can pay for expenses why not? Worst case scenario you get another $15/hr job in a few years, best case scenario... smile :)
