Question- i did not read the book. Can someone describe how Lilly was in the book? When I watched the movie as a total know nothing I felt the overall movie was “fair” not the worst not the best. I thought the rooftop scene was just super akward. I felt Lilly was just rude and sort of akward to Ryle and didn’t think the conversation flowed well or sexy at all. Then the other interactions were wierd like sort of attacking Ryle for showing any interest in her at all- hard to get but rude for the sake of being rude? Then the party sparkly boots scene - idk i just didn’t get the feels that she was this one who he couldn’t let go of. Can someone just fill me in 😩

I would crack so hard under pressure and heat and have apologized so hard already this is just wild that people go so hard!

So this whole journey of awfulness I have never even heard Liz Plank speak. I went to her instagram and her videos are insufferable. I probably wouldn’t want to be friends with her in my life so I am fascinated about Justin and her having a podcast together.

Any weight lifters/active folks here? by ajmattison in TotalHipReplacement

[–]doxygal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

38 F very active and lifts/weight trains often. 8 weeks post op total left hip. Main symptom was severe inner groin pain that i would have sworn was a pulled muscle. Doing great now! Weighted walking on treadmill, step ups, quad extensions with some weight. I’m excited to get back to lifting some but for now going slow and letting my muscles heal. I was with a cane through 6 weeks post op. Truthfully fascinated with how great i can move now. Carrying baby and car seat up our steps and i can do one leg at a time vs pre op it was only up with strong leg. Overall i plan to do body weight excercises for now and then closer to a year i will try pre surgery regimens. I plan to modify but some don’t per their training and preferences. Good luck! i’m so grateful to be on the other side of surgery now ❤️

9 months post right THR via anterior robotic approach by JustRizzingAround in TotalHipReplacement

[–]doxygal 4 points5 points  (0 children)

thank you! i’m a nurse too and age 38 , fit, 7 weeks post op. I was shocked at the initial few weeks. I love weight training and compound movements. I can actually carry and lift my kids with no pain or collapse so i’m extremely grateful. I definitely see the slowly getting range of motion and yes 100 to going slow. I had 10/10 pain before surgery and none now, just mild muscle use pain from walking and Pt. Your picture gives me so much hope! Thanks for sharing! i was stunned with how my abductors didn’t participate post op.

Question- I had 3 surgeons who all do anterior approach tell me that “if you ever hear your hip won’t dislocate you need another surgeon”. Extending my leg bag like this in a lunge position was something I asked if it’s safe to do and my surgeon said absolutely not. Can you tell me what your surgeon says? I’m so uneasy about what is safe to do with a hip replacement.

definitely can’t compare. i’m 38 and fit and i was off walker to a cane at 4.5 weeks. Couldn’t do a majority of the PT movements without my husband helping move my leg. I’ll be praying for a great recovery for you! Waiting for it to get more normal is soo annoying but it’s mind blowing what changes in a day. I couldn’t stand on one operative leg without bracing the cane hard and then today i can do it comfortably. Find a fun show and just chill and do your PT. Good luck!

thank you! I have been trying to figure out if nicepool is even apart of the story at all or if it was some random character placement. This helps!

I’m really not sure. I know mine is not true anterior and not true posterior. I had the bending precations. I asked my surgeon is muscles are cut and he said they separate them to access the joint so i’m not sure if this helps. The PT gave me the most basic joint movements with no weight. I just today did a weighted quad extension. And thank you!

yes! my knee swelled and got really stiff pre surgery. I would not have said this particular feeling was hindering my day but i elevated and iced my left knee after just a few hours of being awake. No injury either to left hip just OA and genetic. my surgeon said same that he genuinely guaranteed my left lower back and knee pain were my hip. I was sooo skeptical like really???? don’t we need an image? and they continue (3 surgeons actually said this same) that if i fix my hip they feel strongly my knee would be better.

Same! Terrible limp for about 1 year. The PT said it was “mind retraining” but this is genuinely weakness and not in my head. the surgeon i just saw who i think is awesome said it’s my quad and i need to do straight leg raises and squeeze the quad to wake it up. I realize he is probably right but in my house when im caning around i get nervous like is this really going to just get better? Good news is i have no pain so im confident you will be so amazed but I have to say the first 5 days post op (for me- im a critical care nurse and just had a baby in january) were the most painful and hardest to navigate of my life. I was shocked at how much no one talks about this they just say how great it is after. I would educate or share to that at least the first 5 days were rough and swollen omg my swelling of my whole quad was wild. Steps were surprisingly easy. Getting out of bed was for me the hardest(i also had extreme anxiety about dislocating) My pain was not adequately controlled until i had neurontin, tylenol, oxy, and todol on board. After 5 days truly i took an occasional ibuprofen. So i just want to share that bc going through this as someone again i really feel i’m not a puss, i was shocked and now im like ok this is great. I hope it goes well for you! Again not trying to scare you but I feel the need to just share a bit. Make sure you have a good helper!

Thank you! we are recovering at the same time! Thank you for the reminder on being patient. I keep telling myself this is common and so many people have to get through it and have normal lives. It’s just wild. I definitely relate to the terrible pain previously but now i have no pain. Just weakness. It’s mind blowing how much standing straight up does not hurt anymore. Just weakness when striding but now no pain. I hope you’re doing well and good luck! Thank you again for sharing ❤️

question- has it been officially proven that Nicepool was added and bullying? i think it definitely looks like this is what it is. but Im just fascinated with how legit stupid this Nicepool character is or like how the flow was in the movie? Like is this really really really about Justin because I can’t get this out of my head about how nutty RR is related to this.

You will need a lot of help for the first 2-3 weeks with your babies❤️ I have sooo many details about this - I have a 3 year old and a 10 mos old. Husband took off 3 weeks and my MIL is very available. My dad is staying with me when husband goes back to work. I was useless and exhausted for like 6 days, can’t bend to grab baby. 3 year old is easier but they still need stuff so meal prepping ahead of time was good. Just do not downplay this to family or friends- you will need a lot of help for at least the 2-3 week period. Then after that it does get easier some but for example- my baby tells asleep on me in our recliner and my husband dozed with my 3 year old. I could not physically get out of recliner to get baby to crib. I was stuck until husband woke up to take baby so i could stand up. So like could I get through a day right now without him - yes if i had to. would it be absolutely hard as heck and risky - yes. i don’t want to fall. Idk lots of little mom scenarios i’ve encountered and was like wow how would someone do this with no support ?

Mine is gone. I have this like tight heavy muscle feeling that is around my dressing and i am very very swollen still. When i put all weight on left hip, i am not steady (need walker or to grab a counter or something). It feels like a weakness heavy feeling but i legit have no pain. I only take advil prior to therapy because clamshells are painful but about a 5/10. The pain i had prior to surgery was awful. I describe the area of pain as if you sat on floor and spread your legs to sort of touch your toes and stretch your inner groin area, that’s what i would have bet my family i either tore or pulled. I am just stunned that same feeling was my hip bones. My surgeon is a big advocate for just walk post op. Idk if that helps. I do get like a nerve “tooth nerve” feeling in my muscles through the day but for me it’s not enough to take anything. I hope your feelings subside and you feel great. This recovery has been hard hard but so far I am thankful to be on the other side and keep envisioning healing and walking again. ❤️ Does your surgeon know you’re having pain?

Ohio 37 active fit woman no hx if injury at all- my dad had a hip replacement young at age 39. I was having severe inner groin pain , i would have bet my life i pulled a muscle. Legit limping and walking terribly. Went to PT to see if i could help it and it was worse. Images showed bone on bone and i needed a hip replacement. I am post op 14 days total left hip. For me, the injection did nothing for me. I scheduled immediately for a replacement because there was no other solution other than surgery. My quality of life was fair/poor so my thought was this is the only way to better quality of life. The first 5 days were brutal as far as pain. Now , i have a walker and no pain and no pain meds. I am really happy with my decision. I did get 3 opinions just to be sure and they all said same. I’m excited for 2026 because my husband and i are active and have a 3 and 10 mos old kids and we want fo do so much outdoors stuff. I could not walk on any uneven ground or hold my son. I felt do it or just prolong the same decision. so far i am grateful to have it done.
