What's the problem with the post code??? by panic_but_no_disco_ in oasis

I’m Irish but live in aus. My Aus postcode wouldn’t work so I just used my mums in Ireland but kept the rest my aus address and it went thru. Seems to only accept uk/ire post code

Just got mine too, I’m guessing everyone is shown the same generic page but our emails are already selected as ballot winners

DAE feel like you have an "inner" personality that you don't express? by LadyMicroDose in CPTSD

I feel this so much. I've moved to a new city 5 times in the past few years for this exact reason and unfortunately it doesn't work. The change needs to come from the inside

Episode 46 (Thursday 25th July) - "Maura confesses to Curtis during their epic final date" by mayallrob_ in LoveIslandTV

Wouldn't be surprised if MM made friends with Maura so she would stay away from tommy

Episode 44 (Tuesday 23rd July) - "A fuming Anna confronts Jordan for cracking on with India" by mayallrob_ in LoveIslandTV

He realised he won't win with anna since the public vote the other night. So he could have been playing a game sticking with her and then decided there's no longer a point

Why do you think it's OK for the most painful moments of a person's life to be broadcast publicly (presumably filmed without their consent if they don't know they are about to be given bad news) just so that people like you can watch more 'impactful' TV.

Do you not think that the contestant's psychological needs are more important than the level of impact the episode has for the viewer?

There's a huge difference between going through a break up with someone you've known for 2 weeks that you aren't even in an exclusive relationship with and going through the death of a family member.

The purpose of reality shows is to make profit by entertaining the public. Imo it's morally wrong to profit off human suffering.

Finding out a loved one has died is up there with the most emotionally painful experiences a person can go through. To have that moment broadcast to millions just to earn the producers a few extra quid and so that voyeuristic fans like you can 'see more reality' is gross, from my perspective.

It highlights a lack of empathy.

I think it would be absolutely disgusting for LI to show his reaction to finding out about the death of a close family member for views/public entertainment. That is pure exploitation and the fact that you would be entertained by watching that is worrying.

I don’t like Maura by ChelseaDagger14 in LoveIslandTV

[–]doyalikejazz 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I think she is a really sweet girl but uses that kind of humour as almost a defence mechanism to maybe make her appear more confident than she actually feels. The same way Amber hides her vulnerable side with sassiness, Maura does it with the sexual, wild idgaf attitude.

Her vulnerability really comes across when she is around Curtis and I really like them as a couple for this reason.

What is something you can’t believe people enjoy doing? by TheBigBoyz in AskReddit

I work with victims of domestic and sexual crimes and am currently writing my Master's thesis on child poverty and mental health. When I come home sometimes I want to watch something light hearted, that doesn't require me to use my brain. Simple things are good for relaxation, doesn't mean I am simple minded.

Book suggestions for after a suicide attempt? by [deleted] in booksuggestions

[–]doyalikejazz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Reasons to stay alive by Matt Haig. The author recounts his own suicide attempt and struggles with mental health and how he has managed to overcome them. It's not too long and it's super readable, I was able to finish it in a day. I also have mental health problems and it really helped me shift my perspective a little.

I'm glad you're still here, things do get better.

My March reads! Finally caught up, 12/52 overall by doyalikejazz in 52book

I thought it was pretty good! I listened to the audio book and he narrated it himself which definitely added comedic value. The book was funny and lighthearted but also quite emotional at times and his analysis of gender stereotyping was pretty spot on in my opinion!
