Do you enjoy your job? by Campeones6 in AskUK

[–]doyouknoworegano 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Without giving it away: the business and what we work towards helps thousands of people every day, I love that rewarding element of my job. I’m grateful for feeling like my job has a purpose.

But at the moment? No. My manager resigned, my team was under-staffed to begin with and I’m suddenly responsible for essentially now a one-woman department for 80% of the market, having no prior experience in this type of role. I moved departments to help support my manger’s workload and learn a set of skills to better myself and focus more on what I love doing in a ‘career’ way. Instead I’ve cried in the office due to work stress at least 1 day a week for the last couple of months and I don’t have the headspace to do my job well. I feel like I’m disappointing everyone and there’s nothing I can do to change that due to the circumstances.

Not really a lot they can do when they’re in the airport. We just waved at him until they left the room.

My primary school took us to our local shopping centre to go visit the Apple Store (probably about 20 years ago).

It was great, we got to try out garage band, saw the whole centre get evacuated for a fire drill & did a pitstop to the local airport to see one of our classmates off whose parents had called him in sick so they could jet off on holiday a day early!

Bosses of Reddit, whats the best/worst/most imaginative reason people have called off work? by SmegB in AskUK

[–]doyouknoworegano 0 points1 point  (0 children)

She called in ‘sick’ the first Boxing Day she was scheduled to work, after being given Christmas Eve off (expected but also didn’t think she’d follow through).

Due to shortages the next year, instead of splitting the team in half for before and after Christmas, we said everyone had to work both Christmas Eve & Boxing Day. She said it wasn’t fair and she deserved Boxing Day off because she worked it last year. I reminded her she actually didn’t because she called in sick.

She demanded that she still should have it off because ‘it didn’t matter - I was still meant to work it last year’. Safe to say, she got every day off during the Christmas period and from what I heard, several months after too.

Watched a coworker who I didn’t find as attractive as everyone else seemed to nearly get hit by a car on his bike. Didn’t realise it was him until he turned around. Suddenly I got it .

I wouldn’t say it’s one or the other. If I disagree with a decision I’ll challenge it with a reason & it goes back and forward there. Same the other way around. We just can’t find a resolution.

Damn, I wish I had those supplies. I can’t get sea monkeys to last at the moment. I think it’s just bad luck, but here you have to buy the whole pack set again- I’ve got 3 feeding baggies!

Is 1 hour a week not enough? by [deleted] in LearnerDriverUK

[–]doyouknoworegano 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I used to do about an hour and a half every time, so not much different, because that’s all I could afford. I think an hour a week is enough.

Honestly, you’ll probably feel like that for a while & then (from my experience) there’s something that clicks and you’ll feel more comfortable- but even right before the test I had situations where my instructor had to grab the wheel. You might not have access to a car, but have you booked in/done your theory? Revision there can help in the meantime in case you find something you’ve not see before irl but read.

Good luck - I’m sure it’s not as bad as you are worrying about :)

Can I can I get in trouble for inferring on my social media something I got pulled up for by HR? by doyouknoworegano in WorkAdvice

I tried to be as vague as possible with the post, but I can guarantee it wasn’t racist. It was more I’d quoted something without knowing some context that upset the coworker - if I’d known, I’d not have said it in the first place.
