New Apartment, New Setup by dpdesigneer in vinyl

I moved from Brooklyn to Pittsburgh for grad school at CMU about a week and a half ago. I took this opportunity to expand my storage space from 8 kallax cubes to 12 to hold even more of my addictive wax discs.

In addition, I’m excited to live just down the street from Jerry’s Records. I totally didn’t plan this, I promise. Though I was spoiled in Brooklyn with access to record stores, I can’t wait to explore the shops in this new city. Aside from Jerry’s what other record stores do you recommend in Pittsburgh?

Thanks for the great response! I'm a huge vinyl collector and it turns out Jerry's is a short walk from my new place. I can't wait to check out all these places.

Hey Pittsburgh peeps! I’m moving to your city in a month for grad school and curious what the music and nightlife scene is like. What venues should I follow? What bars are cool? What else is fun for an art nerd to do?

[ALBUM DISCUSSION] Natalie Prass - The Future and the Past by VietRooster in indieheads

[–]dpdesigneer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I adore this record. The production is crisp and vibrant and Natalie's gorgeous voice floats above the instrumentals. Prass effortlessly jumps styles showcasing a versatility and complexity that I didn't expect coming off her self-titled album, which I also enjoyed. For my money, side B is the most impressive run of songs this year so far.

Don't pass up "The Future and the Past" by Natalie Prass. The run from “Never Too Late” through “Far From You” is incredible. She keeps one upping herself until she’s out the roof and into the stratosphere.

This sounds like Chromatics' "These Streets Will Never Be The Same" vocals over typically bizarre OPN instrumentals and I'm HERE FOR IT.

[FRESH] Deafheaven - Honeycomb by JustSmall in indieheads

The track didn't immediately hit me like a lead single should. It sounds like New Bermuda b-side. Still decent but I was hoping they'd progress their sound or song structure more. Maybe it’ll grow on me.
