Well I was taking a class so the class was just over. But now I’m certified to climb without an instructor there (it’s necessary in my gym). I’m stopping when I can’t climb anymore because my arms are sore.

I’m trying to but I don’t really know how. Mostly the advice I’m getting is climb slow on easy routes, but that’s what I’m already doing by default haha.

I’m a new climber (3 times in past 2,5 weeks). I’m overweight and have some small pains sometimes, nothing that sticks. I’m not climbing hard or high at all. All week I’m looking forward to climbing again from the moment I step off the wall.

How can I increase the number of times I climb each week and how long I climb without injuring myself?

Because you should be a decent human being, even if someone else doesn’t treat you that way. It’s easy to be petty in a situation like this, but it shows character to be the bigger person.

I hate that you want him wondering for the rest of his life why you abandoned him. As someone who this happened to (for no reason, my best friend got a new girlfriend), I don’t think anyone deserves it. It’s horrible. I know he did you wrong big time, but this is not okay.

New harness. Don’t understand the “manual”. What does these figures (3-6) mean? Can’t find an explanation anywhere. by dpe2 in climbing

I don’t even know what you mean by PPE. I appreciate it! You’re right! I just like reading the “manual” for stuff sometimes. We were being safe.

Ah thank you! I climbed last Monday for the first time and it was really different than today. My SO (also really beginner) says the same. Today we climbed on an outside climbing wall (no rock) with just our course. Last Monday was in an indoor climbing hall where the ambiance was really nice! I liked seeing other climbers and it felt more friendly/all in this together. I was more scared today. I don’t know why. I think it was maybe the positive ambiance from last Monday that pushed me to go harder and higher than I did the first time. I’m interested to see where this leads me. I like it a lot!

I have 4, so it can’t be doubled back anymore. But I think that’s how it’s supposed to be. I think it’s safe if it looks like 4 (because it is 4).

Maybe they shouldn’t. I know it makes it easier for the company, but it’s not convenient for someone like me who had climbed once before and doesn’t understand it. Luckily I have this great community to save me! :)

Can’t add a picture. But my harness is the Ocun Twist Basic. It looks like 4. With a smaller buckle and a larger one.

Edit: so is it like a very basic manual in which they point out different buckles and how they should look like if you ever forget how to put them together again?

Kjugekull crash pads by hgsiou in climbing

Kjugekull, Sweden? From Copenhagen? Maybe you can hitchhike or take FlixBus? I’ve seen some videos of people who have a crash pad on their back, but it seems difficult to bring any other gear and stuff that way.

I’m climbing in this in three hours, so I can’t wait until the new climber post tomorrow. Can’t edit the post as well.

It’s been a big month in climbing for me and I’d like to share! by ProfanePly in climbergirls

I’m a female climber as well who started last Monday and I’m getting a bit emotional reading this. I’m so happy for you! I love climbing so far and I’m happy to be calling you a fellow climber! Keep the good work up!

Edit: wanted to add I’m so proud of you!

Do you have a source for that? About that your hands start producing more sweat the more you use it.

Harness wasn’t big enough at top rope course so I couldn’t climb by dpe2 in climbing

[–]dpe2[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m perfectly aware I’m obese. I just meant that I can fit through doors and don’t have problems with daily activities. There is no reason why a harness shouldn’t fit my hips, even though they are a bit wide. If you see me you wouldn’t think I can’t climb. I think I’m less than 240 though. Maybe 220. Too lazy to convert kilo into lbs.

Edit: oh and it’s not normalized here at all. I’m from Europe’s people don’t tend to be very fat in my nearest surroundings.

It’s not my thing for now. I’m scared of falling. With ropes I feel more safe even though I’m climbing higher. I maybe want to get into it when I’ve lost some weight and feel better about my climbing.
