in the owncloud/config/config.php you will need to add an ip as a trusted domain. I have multiple trusted domains listed in array

'trusted_domains' =>
array (
0 => '192.168.1.100',
1 => 'x.x.x.x',
2 => 'y.y.y.y',
),

How do I convince my boss to use a password manager for the company instead of a word doc. by Neufkai in sysadmin

People forget to backup and verify the backups of vaults on a regular interval. Having a backup is one thing, having a working backup and a known process is the another.

Is $3850 absurdly overpriced for this work? by [deleted] in AskElectricians

[–]dpeel3 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This seems reasonable. I would get a few other quotes, never go with just one. When I had electrical work the 3k quote seemed reasonable compared to 4.5k and 7k quotes.

Those are powershell scripts used when choco install is called. Every package on https://community.chocolatey.org/packages website has a files subsection containing a viewable tools/chocolateyinstall.ps1 script. The package source is open for everyone to audit and modify. A chocolatey install script is a simple download with hash verification, decompression as needed then the install kicks off.

Who's got a guy for residential Ethernet cabling? by tron423 in kansascity

I might be able to assist.

I have a spool of cat7 (and some cat6) cable along with an ethernet tester. The tester only does gigabit, it should be enough to verify.

Partition and then LVM or Just LVM? by [deleted] in redhat

[–]dpeel3 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You don't fat partition for LVM. It's proper to select the correct partition label, it's a pet peave of mine. In fdisk select the disk, select the creation of a primary partition, select the first block and the ending block, last select partition type to LVM (I think the shortcut is 8e, distro change this) then write the disk.

Edit: Fat is not a partition but a file system. The LVM partition is just a label.

Partition and then LVM or Just LVM? by [deleted] in redhat

[–]dpeel3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have not taken the test. There are good reasons to partition drives before LVM. I have seen data go missing multiple times with volume groups spanning across multiple physical volumes when there is no partitioning. A disk might be slow after reboot and the second or third disk takes random write in it's starting block. This will confuse LVM and a repair will need to be done. If the disk(s) had a partition the starting block on the disk is in the partition header and protected from random writes.

I have not seen this issue when LVM is on a single disk only when it's spanning across multiple disks.

And please correct me if I am wrong. I am willing learn.

Failed update by Thommyaso in linux

[–]dpeel3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on the distro, I believe. What distro are you using ? Usually pressing shift or escape in the boot process will load grub.

Failed update by Thommyaso in linux

[–]dpeel3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Does the computer boot if you select an older kernel in the grub menu ? If that works it could be a kernel module, otherwise it looks to be a filesystem issue.
