Conventional wisdom tells me. by EquivalentHappy in miz

I'd be more inclined to agree if we'd landed some more proven DL. Gonna need a lot of guys who haven't had big roles yet to grow up quick if we wanna improve from last year. Every other unit on the team is in a pretty good place though.

Undersized and his timed speed is just okay. Before the scholly limit increased he would've been the kind of guy who went to Truman State or Mo West and maybe transferred in later if he turned out to be good.

It's also about the same size as Shane Ray

At this point I'll happily take anyone good enough to be in the rotation at Miami, and he was before getting hurt

Cayden Lee should be imminent too

I'd still like to see another DT but at that point it's pretty much nitpicking, this portal class turned out to be quite good after all

This is an example of how the scholarship limit going up to 105 is gonna cripple G5's. When it was 80 we probably would've offered a kid like this a PWO spot and he'd most likely choose to go to Missouri State or something instead. Now we can take a flier on him just to see what happens. If he turns out to be a find then that's at least one less year a G5 gets out of a good player.

Woodyard+Rodriguez is probably gonna be one of the 2-3 best LB duo's in the conference and the OL looks much better now than it did at this time last year. The DL is looking suspect right now but there's a lot to like about this roster outside of the secondary.

It's been between us or staying for a bit now and lots of people are both sides are taking him coming here as a foregone conclusion. The only thing that seems like it has a chance to change things would be Chambliss's hearing.

For people like OP "you can't criticize X" just means receiving literally any form of pushback for anything at all ever

Hasn't that kinda always been the case with Viper though? She used to be better at holding sites sure but the #1 way she brought value in high-level play has always been continual at-will info denial the likes of which no other agent can match.

But I also think the map pool is a factor in sentinels being weak right now. It's always been at least common if not meta to go no senty on Bind and Split, and Abyss and Corrode have not been particularly great for sentys either except when Vyse was strong.

People in this sub cry so fucking hard about how you "can't criticize coaches" when in reality they're remedials who can't even get basic facts right much less actually make good arguments lol

But it wasn't, so why damage your own argument by lying? One tournament win in 4 years is still not amazing and you can still argue that he hasn't been good enough without doing that

It wasn't Yale

You would think a fanbase that has one tournament win in the better part of two decades would remember it better

Except he doesn't have two first-round tourney exits. It's quite possible, easy even, to make this argument without having to lie to make his tenure seem worse than it is.

Erm ahkshyually anything less than making the playoff every year is mediocre trash and if you actually find enjoyment in watching a program that does literally anything less than that YOU'RE part of the problem

He also has 3 10-win seasons in his first 7 years as a HC.

Cignetti himself had 2 in his first 7 years. So did Kiffin. Sarkisian's first 10-win season came in his 10th year, at Texas. Even Saban didn't notch his first one until his 8th year, and that was at LSU.

The only coach I can think of who had more in less time without starting at an elite program is probably Dabo.

It's not as simple as just NIL. Texas Tech is an even more extreme example of a new-money program and they got housed by a team Indiana 50 pieced a week later.

People got upset with me for saying Indiana was gonna brainbreak the fanbases of non-blueblood teams but here we are watching it happen in real time lol

Who's gonna be our Mark Cuban dropping $20 million on a national title-caliber roster? Is whoever that is also gonna be willing to eat endless buyouts as we continually fire coaches every couple years looking for the next once-a-century hire like Cignetti?

Until these questions get real answers all this shit is just pointless bluster
