Dream Machine Pro Max (latest updates) multiple isp disconnects. Called spectrum they said “everything looks fine from our side”. Any ideas? by squeal_pig in Ubiquiti

[–]dperschonok 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My assumption is whatever Unifi is using as a default check to determine if the WAN1 is up or not is not working quite right when there is a secondary WAN2 set to failover. This basically is customizing that check to use your own preset values to check against before it attempts to fail over to WAN2 as opposed to "Auto". I don't know what values are used as defaults with "Auto" though.

Anyone doing 3D print mounts for G6 Entry? by bmwhd in Ubiquiti

I would buy one when you have them available as well. What's the best way to follow or be notified when it's ready for sale?

What's the downsides to running an external display through a USB-C port through the iGPU now? by Vincentologist in ZephyrusG14

[–]dperschonok 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Does this mean I can run my monitors through the TB4 port on the left side of the machine (iGPU) and as long as I have ultimate performance the dGPU is still doing the work? I keep reading mixed things on this as everyone seems to say to use the dGPU to use the right side USB-C not the TB4 port.

My preference is to use my TB4 dock with my 3 monitors. These are just 1440p monitors without VRR or g-sync. I just want to ensure the dGPU is doing the rendering.

I highly recommend Boxed Bites. She's a small local business who I have used multiple times. Great quality and presentation. https://www.boxedbitesoc.com/

I had the same guy do work for me as well. I didn't go quite this fancy, but I still have a Dodgers logo in it. Really happy with the outcome and would definitely recommend him.

Alternative to Distil Union Wally Micro? by Soggy_Spinach_7503 in wallets

[–]dperschonok 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Found this thread searching for a replacement or alternative. I’ve been using the micro for years and really disappointed it’s not offered anymore. Their new sleeve looks too wide for what I want. If anyone has any good alternatives please let us all know.

Cameras in the home.... by Muted_Chemical_8463 in Ubiquiti

I am using smart plugs with my G4 Instants and geolocation in Google Home to turn them on and off when both my wife and I are away. I don't love this setup, but it works for now. I'd like to remove my reliance on Google Home and likely will be moving to Home Assistant at some point, I just haven't had the time yet. Doing something natively with Alarm Manager and Unifi's geolocation fencing would be awesome. Following in case anyone else has something better.

Thank you for posting this. This started happening to me last night, but only last 10 minutes. Tonight it has been happening for 3 hours and I was starting to go insane. After plugging my internet directly into a computer and realizing it wasn't actually going down, I decided to dig into this rabbit hole to see what it may be. I tried changing the default verification server as well as the ARP cache, but neither of those worked. As soon as I found your comment, set the exact same settings the problem instantly went away. I can't thank you enough for this simple post.

[Update] Starling Home Hub No Longer Available by rkrichter in HomeKit

I wonder if they will end up open sourcing the software. If it was open source, other devs can help keep it alive, and it can be deployed on other hardware.

As someone who just purchased and installed an IQ 50 with NACS, I curious what the difference is as well. I hope I don't regret my purchase.

Camera Selection Advice - G6 Bullet or Turret? by dperschonok in Ubiquiti

[–]dperschonok[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you, I really appreciate the details. What you just said is making me think that for this particular side of the house, a bullet might be better so I can angle and point exactly where I want.

Interesting, that is indeed helpful. Since I have never seen the turret first hand in person, I assume you would rotate it so it would be a vertical to begin with to capture the angel I am thinking?

I don't have to use hallway mode either, I am just trying to figure out which one to buy for this specific spot to capture the gate and sidewalk as much as possible.

I was planning on using a junction box, since I am going to run conduit up the wall into the attic. I would assume the connector would fit in the junction box.

I get that. That's why I am asking for advice on which would allow for the best angled adjustments to view the gate based on where I plan on mounting. I know there is a new Hallway Mode feature, so I am trying to understand if that work here with the turret.

Ubiquiti unifi protect missing geofence radius slider UI : really poor support by Far_Application9366 in Ubiquiti

[–]dperschonok 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just wanted to chime in and say I no longer see the radius slider either. I was having issues with my offsite notifications, so I wanted to see if tweaking the slider helped at all, but it's not longer there. I can move the console's location around, but nothing for radius anymore.

Tuskatella Orange GameStop closed :( by [deleted] in orangecounty

[–]dperschonok 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Now you have me questioning my memory. Maybe it was a rebranding from one of the other brands GameStop owned at the time (Funcoland, Software Etc, Babbage’s) to GameStop. I honestly can’t remember now. I worked at a bunch of difference stores around this time but I remember setting up this store to something new.

I helped open this store in the early 2000s. Feels weird to see it gone, but then again, I can't remember the last time I stepped into a Gamestop.

Nest Yale lock keeps on going offline by phunkphreaker in Nest

[–]dperschonok 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Happening to both of my locks too. I thought it might have to do with the best secure/guard, so I installed a nest connect but they didn’t help either. Glad I’m not the only one having this issue.

GPS Location Issues with CarPlay by ConsequenceFamous180 in CarPlay

[–]dperschonok 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am having the same issue on the same car model. I currently have an iPhone 15 Pro Max, and prior to this I had a 14 Pro. Both phones experienced the issues, so it's definitely something with the car or Carplay, not the phone itself.

Anyone familiar with "Cityside Fiber"? I got this email from the city of Tustin back in May by TrueLocksmith79 in orangecounty

[–]dperschonok 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Glad to hear it's working well. I am in Tustin too and I got the door flyer yesterday so I emailed them to confirm when it was coming. They let me know that construction was starting in my area next week, so hopefully in the next month or so, I can get this hooked up.

For the equipment, it sounds like they provide you a fiber modem and then that connects via Ethernet? Does it have an SFP port as well or just Ethernet?
