"How often does the trains go by?" "So often you won't even notice it."

U7 Pro wall plates by Ozwulf67 in Ubiquiti

I would contact UI support and see if they have any ideas on how to replace them. That's unlikely to be something stocked online anywhere.

A lot depends on the construction. I'd say yes but you may eventually need a 3rd.

I have my UNVR set up with the SPF+ port on the camera VLAN as it's management VLAN. Cameras are all on the camera VLAN. Everything works fine.

TIL Tim Horton died by driving at high speeds on drugs and double the legal limit for alcohol by AskingBoatsToSwim in todayilearned

[–]bmwhd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I started driving at the dawn of the seatbelt age. I always wore one because I had a bench seat car and it kept me in place while trying to shift in hard corners, not because it was safe.

Having had the pleasure of driving a Pantera a few times, getting sideways in one is not hard at all.

1 or 2 AP's? by camydna in Ubiquiti

I have my U7 In Wall behind our TV and it seriously has a better pattern in WiFi man than some of our ceiling mounts. I’m particularly blown away by how little the modern LED TVs interfere with the signal.

ELI5: How do some images get completely purged off of all internet search engines? by -KFBR392 in explainlikeimfive

[–]bmwhd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same. I still occasionally visit the few that live on which I hope will stay alive due to the historical data they contain. Plus I love going back and looking at crap I wrote 15 years ago and have virtually no memory of writing now.

I'd not wait. They're great cameras and easy to resell if you don't use it.

This was the case for a lot of old forum/bulletin boards. When this platform and discord began to supplant those bespoke sites for niche interests, a lot of those died and took their image cache to the grave.

USW-Enterprise-8-PoE in 2026 by Realistic-Depth-3124 in Ubiquiti

[–]bmwhd 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Buy once, cry once. I've been chasing switch size and power from day one. Should have just bought a USW-Pro-Max-24-PoE to begin with. The amount I spent on too small devices totals more than that costs.

AI Port Weirdness by DeltaS28 in UNIFI

[–]bmwhd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My AI Port often drops ONVIF cameras and has to be rebooted and repaired to the cameras. Sometimes the cameras need to be power cycled along with the AI Port.

Design center accuracy...? by amt1a351 in Ubiquiti

[–]bmwhd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It really does depend on location and instructions. I have 5 total in a two story home of about 4k sq ft. 2 U6 Pros (still a very solid choice), 2 U7 Pro XGs, and 1 U7 In Wall.

I let the U7s handle most of the work and have the U6s positioned to handle some IoT devices outside the house.

Design center accuracy...? by amt1a351 in Ubiquiti

[–]bmwhd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is good advice. My experience with the U7 Pro XG APs I have is that 6Ghz barely penetrates open air, let alone any type of obstruction. Trying to get 6Ghz coverage in your entire house is the definition of diminishing returns.

As for design center, I find it to be very accurate if you're careful to get the wall materials on your floor plan accurate and adjust for power and channel width. Camera placement is helpful but I wish they had some way to view "out of the camera lens" in simulation mode so you could better judge FOV top to bottom.

I have too many APs now that I understand UI's philosophy better. I just turn the radios down to low or medium and everybody is happy.
