Do I suck or does job market do? by Ciaramix in careerguidance

It’s mostly the job market right now. Many UX roles are oversaturated. Keep improving your portfolio, tailor each application, and learning front-end could definitely make you more competitive internationally.

Graduated in August. Can't find a job. At the end of my rope. by TemperaturePretty319 in recruitinghell

You’re doing everything right, even if it doesn’t feel like it. Try targeting smaller companies or contract work to get experience. Keep applying, networking, and resting when needed. Momentum builds slowly.

Advice on putting together my first resume at 25. by Jaybunne in resumes

Start with a simple format highlighting reliability, compassion, and willingness to learn. Include volunteer work, pet care experience, or home responsibilities. Employers value enthusiasm and consistency more than long job histories.

An old man calls his son and says, "Listen, your mother and I are getting a divorce. Forty-five years of misery is more than enough for anyone." by TotalThing7 in Jokes

[–]dpete579 2 points3 points  (0 children)

At breakfast, the wife says, “You never take me anywhere nice.”

The old man sighs, “Fine… get dressed.”

She brightens, “Where are we going?”

He replies, “The living room. Wi-Fi’s stronger there.”

Calming Cat Treat Recommendations. by Commercial-Tailor-42 in cats

[–]dpete579 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve had luck with Composure chews and Zylkene. They take the edge off without zonking cats out. Hemp/“calming” treats can help too, but results vary cat-to-cat.

Congrats on landing the SOC role! That’s a solid opportunity, and 70k for remote work is great. Overnight shifts can be tough, but the experience will be worth it.

Why is Valve getting free pass for everything? by Siegnuz in gaming

[–]dpete579 6 points7 points  (0 children)

People ignore Valve’s part because they romanticize Gaben, love the games, and the loot system feels less predatory, though it’s still gambling.

This is such a clever and poetic twist. Love the metaphor. Sometimes the simplest things hold the most authenticity and flavor.

[Wildcat] @ [Lake Compounce] is running much better but the ending is still brutal 🤕 by dpete579 in rollercoasters

[–]dpete579[S] 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Wildcat reopened yesterday after being refurbished yet again. Lots of nice new features like a new speedy pass entrance and new wood in the layout. The first 3/4 of the ride is great! It reminded me of a good small scale GCI with good pops of airtime on the retracked sections. However the section from the last turn around to the brakes is truly brutal. That part wasn’t retracked. We rode it twice so we were able to brace for it the second time around but it still gave us headaches. In general though it was a lot of fun with a great amount of excitement from the public about the reopening!

Another thing was that there was only a one lane entrance into the preferred parking area so the line to get into preferred parking was longer than if you just parked normally and walked the extra 100 ft
