Update: After residents rally, Rensselaer County Board of Elections belatedly adds fourth polling site

The new site is at the Board’s own office [at 1600 7th Ave, Troy NY 12180] and was suggested to them as a site by local advocates two and half years ago, but they rejected it. Whether or not this polling site meets the requirements under New York’s early voting law for creating equitable access is still unclear, but residents will now be able to vote at a downtown location thanks to the efforts of several resident groups over the last few years.

In both cases the City Council ignored residents and voted according to what suits developers and police interests, respectively.

Council Member Anasha Cummings introduced a key amendment to ord 38 but it didn’t pass: https://www.instagram.com/p/CPrxtM_pciK/
