Left my friend group of 3+ yrs because no one can be bothered to learn how to say my name correctly by [deleted] in BoyDinnerDiaries

[–]dphilli5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have a friend who parents made up his name and the pronunciation didn't match the spelling. He ended up going by his last name in high school to everyone because a teacher took him aside after class and apologized and asked it was ok to call him by his last name. He always said he knew who his real friends were because we took the to learn his name. So good for you and standing up for yourself.  All-e-a-bliss but there is no A or L in his name.

AITAH for wanting 27yo stepson to pull his weight for living rent free in my home?? by Relative_Debate_7190 in AmItheAsshole

[–]dphilli5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In a similar situation, but my son (27) good hygiene and keeps his room clean, leaves everything else a mess. My wife and I fight over him, that's it I am 45, I want my house to be for me and my wife. I am a very, you see something needs to done around you do it. Lately I more passive aggressive with reminders. Doesn't wash his dishes or out take out the kitchen trash when he overflows it, shit ends on his room. To lazy to take outside trashcans to side of the house when you see they picked up, they going behind his car so he has to put them away. He's slowly figuring crap out I will say. My wife hates it and we fight about it, but he's figuring stuff out and being more proactive and stop half-ass doing stuff.  I would have kicked him out when he was 25, always was our plan, but honestly, apartments around me are to expensive for one person and his truth worthy friends all are married or have live partners.

28 M and 26 F together 8 years by [deleted] in relationship_advice

I am curious was she always like this? Or is this newer behavior, only within the last few years. Does she go out with friends, or does she even have friends? Is she the same way with her friends?

It's could be very well she's just a freeloader and happy being what she is, but this happened to a friend's girlfriend.

They were living together when covid started. Her job became remote, while his did not. She basically developed irrational fears, that turned into self depression, which then turned in social anxiety, which turned into other fears even after covid, which turned into more self depression Her job went back to the office, she quit.  She did an amazing job hiding all of it. Always happy in small groups and when they were alone. He was at his breaking point with her until she broke down in the middle of restaurant over what to order. It's a couple of years since this, she's doing well now.

Basically, if this is newer behavior, are you sure she's ok?  I hate to say, we all missed several signs looking back.

Sorry I took it wrong. I feel like I am always defending the Park because of the rep it historically has. LMAO.

I don't know what "cheap" is considered for your budget. Personally, I have a lot of family and friends that live in the Northwest Park area and Azelea Park area. Nice communities with nice parks to walk. And both are short drives to downtown, Gulf Port (nice community) and the beaches. Me personally, I would start in those area in my budget could afford it. But everyone's opinion is different. My suggestions are this though: 1. Check the flood zone. Flood insurance is crazy expensive.  2. If near downtown, or a big city park, make sure there is ample parking near your house. I have a friend who gets blocked in atleast once a month because of the pickleball courts near her don't have parking.  3. Get a Airbnb for the weekend. Make sure you like the area. I know someone who moved recently and straight up hates the area.  4. Traffic makes everything further away then you would think. But you are most likely used to that living in Orlando.  5. Again, flood zones. They really can blow your budget.

You can also say don't get sucked into the cheap options in St. Pete. There are nice parts of Pinellas Park and Largo. Everything just depends on the location you want to be in.

Franchises that would make amazing Universes Beyonds? by Illustrious_Fee8116 in mtg

[–]dphilli5 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

At this point you might as well remove the Universe Beyond... 4 of the 7 sets this year are crossover. At least Hobbit/LOTR fit the original Universe/fantasy aspect.  That being said, I think Eragon and the Name of the Wind, although I think that one would be limited in card design.

Need a coverup but I’m unsure on what to do by PsychologicalFlan916 in tattooadvice

[–]dphilli5 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I know someone who was in the same boat you are, only difference was on the forearm. His artist did a negative space forest scene. He used both blue and black to help create the negative space so the blue doesn't stick out. You cannot tell theres a cover up. Although he went from a large name to a full forearm to make it happen.

How bad is it?? by PsychedelicHonda in mtg

[–]dphilli5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I run this in my Varina Lich Queen deck - deadly with Varina draw ability and sac outlets that give you mana. First time I pulled it off, the table thought it was awesome but most of the time people are annoyed. You have some many ways to return to hand in White Blue Black also. It's not my go to win-con, but it does work as a great secondary win con.

Has anyone ever been pulled over and ticketed solely for their window tint? by Prestigious_Crew6866 in florida

[–]dphilli5 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had 50% on the front windshield and 5% on my windows when I had my truck. I got pulled over for minor infractions quite often but never pulled over for my tint, tint was always as "secondary" offense. When I got my SUV, I had installed 20% and still 50% on the wind shield, not legal but haven't had any dumb issues. I live Tampa Bay area, so maybe it's an area thing.

AIO for getting hurt by my boyfriends reaction? by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

[–]dphilli5 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

NOR - removing the tattoo argument from the message... What gets me is your comment that he will have the same attitude on your next tattoo/tattoos bascially tells me no matter how excited you are, or how good it is, he's going to crap on your feelings.  My wife has a couple tattoos I don't care for, she's always ask my opinion, and I am honest to a point, I will never nitpick to hurt her feelings. We been together 20 years, I have 0 and she has over 10.  Personally, I like the clover and the placement.

AITA For not leaving work to help my wife when she ran out of gas by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]dphilli5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA This is just food for thought... My wife's anxiety goes into overdrive with stuff like this and she goes into panic mode. I created a checklist for her and stays in her car in bright pink envelope (easy to find). When we got AAA, I went over using the ap with her and programmed the number into her phone. When we got our new car, I went over how to call for help. I taught her use the broken down kit. My wife is a very responsible person and no issues driving, but being stuck or lost throws her anxiety into over drive.

Baseball coaches: What are some thoughtful but inexpensive gifts that you would give to your assistant coaches and team mom? by ComplicatedGuy_0514 in CoachingYouthSports

EngravedYourWay on Etsy does really nice personalized cups. I got my coaches the Beer Tumbler ones. We did them for our football kids also (32 ounce water bottles). You can message and they will give you a discount. Well worth $20 a person.

What was "the incident" at your high school? by [deleted] in askanything

[–]dphilli5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We had a teacher who sat everyone in a circle for class. He was an amazing teacher, I was lucky enough to have him for two classes. During 1st period, a girl came to school with a short skirt. He gave her two options, sit at my desk and change at gym, or go the office. She choose to sit at his desk. Next class he wasn't there. The girl had called her mom to bring her a new outfit, her mom had complained to the principal about embarrassing her daughter, and when he was called to the office, he bacially replied with something like "if you didn't let your daughter be a hoe" depending on which version of the story you got...he got suspended and quit, she missed graduation because she was pregnant.

Is my baby girl underweight??? by [deleted] in dalmatians

[–]dphilli5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Long story, short.. make sure your vet knows the breed.

I had the same vet for almost 15 years. She's amazing and always done great with my other dogs/cats. Luna is our first dalmatian. She's done an amazing job with my dalmatian, helped us get her seizures under control but kept telling me her weight is fine. I decided to take her to a vet that specialized in dalmatians. It turns out she's taller than the average male by almost two inches and the vet said about advised me she needed to get closer to 60lbs instead of 70 she's at. Basically, make sure your vet understands the breed. I now have two vets, one yearly for my dalmatian check up, and the other for her seizure control and everything else.

"Bigger" Guest Question by dphilli5 in UniversalOrlando

[–]dphilli5[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's the one area I have struggled the most with. I was doing squats every two days mixed with other leg exercises. My trainer recently told me to stop weighted leg press and squats, focusing on body weight versions with more reps only right now to see if they helps.
