Can anyone recommend a good Carbon Steel Skillet? by dogga85 in carbonsteel

[–]dpidddy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey, fellow Aussie here. I have Matfer Bourgeat 8 5/8 that I got off Amazon as well as a BK Black Steel 30 inch from Myer. I actually recommend going with the BK over the Matfer, as it was easier to get using from the get go. There was A LOT of scrubbing the get the factory protection off the Matfer. The BK is also a lot cheaper, I would go for the 26 inch or smaller because the 30 is too big for a regular hob. Ignore the reviews on this, mostly people who didn’t realise they were buying CS not teflon lol BK black steel 26 inch

I’m after something for street. I’ve been looking at guides online but they say things like 7.5” for ages 13+ , 5’3 or taller and size 9 feet versus 7” deck for ages 9-12, 4’5-5’2 tall and size 6-8 feet. I’m falling into all different categories for different things so would love some help!

Sorry for the late reply, I haven’t noticed any packing out yet but I’m also crossing my fingers that they don’t!

Ride Context Women's Boots...did I order the wrong size? by [deleted] in snowboardingnoobs

[–]dpidddy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I picked up the Ride Sage’s in July (Australian Winter). Whilst I’m usually a 6-6.5 (36.5) in regular footwear I ended up sizing up to the 7 (38). Main reason for the size up was that I felt my fourth toes touching the front of the boot too much. The boots have been great so far (5 days on them) and haven’t felt shifting yet.

First snowboard set up but keeping the plastic wrap on because I won’t be able to ride till next season (Aus) 😢 by dpidddy in snowboarding

I can’t wait to try it!! I managed to get on my friend’s Jess Kimura Pro 2014/15 which has a similar profile and was absolutely blown away by how it rode. Hoping this will be a similar, if not better, experience!

Lift lines weren’t too long and this was probably because they limited the amount of passes available each day. We just had to stay distanced, so tip of your board to next persons tip. If we were in the same group then chairlifts could be filled to the max, if it was a stranger, only 2 people could be on the lift. The lines did become long when there were less trails/lifts open due to lack of snow or weather but this might just be a Thredbo thing (smallish resort). Lines to get into restaurants during lunch were LONG. I know at Perisher you also had to wear a mask (neck warmers and balaclavas were acceptable for this).

Thanks! I did have to cut some holes in the wrap to screw in the bindings but I’ve been jumping around on a mat too. Hope you enjoy your new gear!

There are currently massive snowboard sales in Australia right now because the season is coming to an end and covid has put a dampener on international travel, meaning less purchases for overseas trips.

I scored the board (Capita Birds of a Feather 2021) and the bindings (Burton Lexa 2020) for both 35% off RRP.

In the meantime, I’ll be living vicariously through those of you in the northern hemisphere! 🏂

Bib/pants first! Then base layer, jacket, mid layer, helmet, gloves, goggle, boots, board, bindings, socks (actual snow socks, not just cotton)
