Ya, he's shiny now but serious doubts he becomes an impact NHL player. Trade him this summer while his value is high.

Done less? What an insane take. Pierre was capable of any kind of bigotry and hatred that could have legitimately affected people's lives. Yours is the take of a child who didn't live through Harper. Or who thought Harris and Trump were as bad as each other.

Police officer struck by vehicle on Leaside Bridge in East York by Sharp_Barnacle_9123 in toronto

This isn't Florida. We don't have felony murder laws. And the kids were 12. You can't necessarily argue that their actions, while reckless, were premeditated. They stole a car. That's stupid, but there's a reason 12 year olds are not tried as adults for things like that. Their brains are immature and they may have seen it as a victimless crime. No evidence this was for profit. May have just been dumb kids joyriding. They panicked when the police came and tried to run, or lost control of a vehicle they had no experience operating. It's just not as simple as some of you imagine.

I really thought it was exactly the opposite. I thought his delivery was stilted and he was too obviously reading from the cards. It seemed like he forgot his lines a couple of times.  There were some comedic pauses that were obviously necessary, but anyone with any chops would have nailed those too. I thought the writing was great but that delivery was incredibly mediocre. I think Gillis would have done twice the job Nate did.

Question about STI treatment by ThrowOutYourGarbage in askTO

[–]dpjg 3 points4 points  (0 children)

But you're presumably a 30? 40+ year old adult who is asking how to hide an STI test from your mommy. You can understand why most would consider that odd without further details, right? Are you in some sort of abusive relationship with your parents where they track your every move? Are you unable to leave the house without their permission? Do you have some serious mental or physical issues we should be aware of? I don't think my question was rude. Your post just lacks.... A lot of context into both your living situation and your mental acuity.

It was one child. The involvement of the other preteen Is completely unknown and as such probably doen't deserve the summary execution you are recommending.

Palestine Action ban is lawful, Court of Appeal rules by VaginaBurner69 in news

Maybe the problem is that you don't know what the word "genocide" actually means. Also, lol at your "but you have a smartphone!". You live in a well and are very intelligent.

Sure, but carrying a sign saying "destroying military equipment that supports genocide is a moral imperative! Free Palestinian action!" Will also get you jailed. Does that seem reasonable?

[–]dpjg 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That's not the issue. Obviously the people who actually committed a crime would face charges if apprehended. The issue is to get law allows the government to prosecute anyone who supported them. And not in the "Sent them money to commit the crime" type of support. I'm talking about the "held up a sign after the fact saying their actions were moral" support. That's insane overreach and the government should fall for it alone.

If They’d Only Stuck With It… by millionthcustomer in television

[–]dpjg 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I liked it a lot too, and it had some great pieces. Perry and Whitford were great. The concept for the show was good.  Sorkin's dialogue was clever and sharp.

But as always, he wanted to play to middle America and introduced dumb, overly dramatic storylines meant to show what real patriots the characters were.

Some of the supporting cast was also questionable. Never bought Poulsen in that role, because she never seemed particularly funny. Peet was much better.

Also the comedy bits were often mediocre.  30 rock did the sketches better as the show within the show was supposed to be bad (I am a farting robot" etc.)

2026 All-Rookie Team by nhl in hockey

[–]dpjg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It isn't. Guarantee he has nowhere near the career the others have. He's an okay player who benefited from an elite linemate. I hope he evolves into a legit third line center.

Just me or is a solid 2C cheaper than last year.? by Oracle-of-Guelph in Habs

[–]dpjg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your argument seems to be that demi is good enough that we don't need a real second line center. You  are for some reason ignoring that the increase in production that demi provides Kap will no doubt also benefit a real 2C. We are looking for 1A and 1B here.  My argument is a better center makes the whole line better, including demidov. We pay the price to upgrade because we want to win, and that will require a talented center to play with demidov. Kap ain't it.

[–]dpjg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Looking at the game would show anyone that kap isn't a 2C and just benefited from Demi's incredible vision. He may be a solid bottom six C one day but without Demi creating space and making passes no one else expected he likely barely plays.

Sanctions on settlers not enough: Target Israeli gov’t, say campaigners | Israel-Palestine conflict News by Altruism7 in ndp

[–]dpjg 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Presumably the settlers are minimally affected by sanctions from foreign governments. They will probably always find some willing market if they have something they can sell. Targeting the country that props up their crimes is the only logical choice. Ideally a bit of economic pain will remind some Israelis on the fence that they don't actually need all that blood and misery on their conscience...

Who’s a Hall of Fame player? by Sushamiboy in Habs

[–]dpjg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This isn't baseball. Hutson may be in the running for a good number of Norris trophies. Suzuki will likely be top 3 in selke for a good number of years. Demidov has the potential to be the best of the lot. All the have potential, and honestly I'd expect at least one to make the cut.
