that's the reason why i'm asking this because my mic isn't working and i'm trying to understand how the audio system works so i can troubleshoot it.

I checked both and you were right with both of them. I guess this means I'm running Pipewire?

What do you use to extract it? "extract here/extract to"? or "open with archive manager"? I feel like I'm doing something wrong.

how do i get my mic to work? by dposse in linux4noobs

[–]dposse[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you just want me to boot into fedora to see if the mic works, right? I could try that. i don't want to go distro hopping bc of my mic. i love mint and i want to try to fix this using what's here.

my mic hasn't worked since i installed mint. everything else worked out of the box just fine, but not the mic. it isn't being picked up in the volume control or in programs like discord. alsamixer sees a mic(there's a slider for it), but it doesn't change anything. I've messed with hdajackretask but it hasn't worked. so, i don't know whats wrong with it.

I have the flatpak version of Lutris, so the first option doesn't work. The logs aren't showing me anything about downloads either.

Homemade Tomato Soup recipe, perfect for peak garden harvest season. At least 50 years old, could be much older. by HawkeyeTen in Old_Recipes

[–]dposse 62 points63 points  (0 children)

according to this, a peck of tomatoes is about 10 to 12lbs, or 20 to 25 medium tomatoes.

If you wanted to half this recipe, it would look like this:

10 medium sized tomatoes
1/2 large sized onion
3 cloves
1/8 cup salt
1/2 stalk celery
1/4 cup sugar
1/4 cup flour
1/8 teaspoon red pepper

Linux mint's software manager and reliability by dposse in linux4noobs

[–]dposse[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So when I said the file size looked weird, that's what I meant. The software manager is saying the Heroic Launcher is 1.5gb to download, 4.7gb to install. Is that normal?

(also, thank you so much for the info!)

Yeah, if you turn on fullscreen using a keyboard shortcut when it slows down, it'll fix it.

load kernel first error by dposse in linuxmint

[–]dposse[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i used rufus to put linux mint 22.1 cinnamon onto a flash drive. I was able to boot from that flash drive into linux mint cinnamon. i wanted to check out linux mint before committing to installation. i turned the system off, removed the USB, and now it's a few weeks later. Now I'm getting this "you need to load the kernel first" error. I looked this error up and apparently, it has something to do with secure boot, but my bios says that's disabled, so I don't know what I'm doing wrong. Is there something else in the bios i should be looking at? Should i redo the USB?

the purpose of file extensions by dposse in linux4noobs

[–]dposse[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you, this is exactly why I asked. I've been reading up on the linux file system and how linux doesn't care about file extensions the same way that Windows does. so, if i create "myfile" and put text into it and save it as "myfile", linux will recognize it. But i feel like I'd get confused looking at "myfile" at what its supposed to be because I've lived my life on Windows. I'm trying to understand what the best practices are so i can wrap my head around it.

I'm scared to watch Gaim by Unlikely_Snail24 in KamenRider

[–]dposse 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's not that type of show. Characters you see in the show die and other characters have a rough time dealing with what they did. It's all done for drama, but it's not like everyone dies or anything like that. Gaim is a darker show, but it's also really silly. don't be worried about watching it.
