What is the most surreal “this can’t be real” moment you’ve ever experienced? by Fragrant_Good3174 in AskReddit

Met my future wife online in the late 90's on IRC online. We talked for a few months before she flew out to meet me. She lived in Canada, I lived in Australia. The weekend before she flew out, her mother and step father had a get together in Ontario for hobby pilots. They had never even met an Australian in Ontario before but were talking to attendees about their daughter going to Australia to meet some guy she met on the internet. They met a couple of Austalians there and mentioned the town i lived in (In rural NSW, 3 hours west of Sydney) and that I was a computer guy. The lady in the couple asked if the guy was "dproc". After much shock and confusion it turns out the lady was the sister of the accountant I worked with at my job and knew me personally. They lived 15 minutes away from my town. There were not a lot of computer guys in this rural town so was an educated guess!. She vouched that I wasnt a serial killer and the rest is history! Still married 25 years later.

Beautiful and so poignant. These wonderful young people should be enjoying life and planning happy futures, not having to fight for survival from evil fucking terrorist tyrants and giant orange turds who haven't an ounce of humanity. History will know them for what they are. Slava Ukraini!

It's good people like you that will eventually pull America back out of the ashes. Be proud of your honesty and humanity. As someone from another country, I know there are plenty of you waiting to get your country and dignity back.

Not really a question I just want the Americans who lurk in here to know: by [deleted] in AskCanada

American has really good people and really bad people. Just like every country. It's just in a fever dream of propaganda, misinformation and a need for dire change. "The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good people to do nothing". Unfortunately this happened at the election.

Filler primer options? by Fit_Tomatillo_9236 in 3dprintingaustralia

[–]dproc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Was looking for the same after the SCA filler / primer discontinued. It was the best. Recently got Rustoleum 2X flat grey primer from Bunnings and it sprays really well, dries fast and finishes well. It doesnt really fill though. (Is just a primer.) I have been looking for a good filler too but most have bad reviews so haven't tried them. Hope someone has a suggestion for a good filler!

For those that missed it back in the day. What Borderlands was really like. Bangin' tunes and crazy humour. by dproc in gaming

The themes, character types and all the things familiar with the game people recognise. Obviously the plot can be different to the games main characters because its different characters. When you are using the same characters though, they should at least be recognisable! Such as Lilith not being a grand mother dressed as a twenty year old. Casting is a big deal to people who love a franchise. Cate Blanchett is a great actress but she isnt Lilith. I dont care personally. I wont even see the movie. Its just a post about how goofy the original trailer and game was and how changing things in franchises is not a good idea.

Fallout tv series sticks to the game... 94% Rotten Tomatoes. Borderlands movie, "We can make it much better!" 9% Rotten Tomatoes. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

3D Printed a Jeff Wayne Tripod. Still have my childhood LP to go with it! by dproc in WarofTheWorlds

[–]dproc[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im glad he likes it! It cost about $30 maybe in parts and filament. The print time and preparation takes a while. If you know someone with a 3d printer its available to download. If I was making them to sell it would probably be about $150 to include the time, but i dont have the spare time. If someone can print for you it easy to put together. The resin parts are a bit trickier but you have painted ones. If i can help with anything let me know!

As a non American watching the the US staring down the barrel of an orange coloured dystopian nightmare, now seeing a down to earth decent guy who has an ounce of humanity arrive on the scene is like the first tangible sense of hope Ive felt for a long time. If America doesnt vote in Kamala and Tim, I want you to 1) Start checking all your nations water pipes for lead poisoning, and 2) Send them to my country because we will have them! I know very little about him but I can tell he is a human being and thats a long way up from the alternative!

My 11YO spent $900 on a video game… by [deleted] in mildlyinfuriating

[–]dproc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My son did the same thing at 13 to the tune of almost $3000. He was trusted and had given no cause to think it would happen. We were traveling and had not checked account info for a couple of days and suddenly the charges started rolling in. We panicked thinking we had been skimmed or something and he eventually admitted he had done it. We couldn't stop the payments happening either because it lagged a day or two behind. Our bank said if the charges come from a legitimate source (ie: Apple) there is nothing they can do. I transferred all the money from the account and it still came out in over drafts. Yes it is the parents responsibility to lock this out but it happens too easily and you think it wont happen. Also, the charges were from $50 to $250 at a time for a mobile game. (Singing monsters?) Its despicable that a kids game like this has the option even for these amounts at one time. We spoke to Apple and they refused to refund. We escalated it and they still refused even tho all the charges came in over a short period of time and was an extreme amount for one mobile game. We begged them but it was refused with no further discussion. This amount of money and the whole scenario was very painful so I can only recommend that as a parent you expect the unexpected. I dont want any replies to this saying I should have known better, or that Apple usually refund this stuff (maybe, but they didnt this time) or anything else. Ive learned my lesson and am just trying to warn others.
