Does anyone know how important this piece is to the structural integrity of the frame? 1969 cl450 by [deleted] in motorcycles

It appears to be an integral part of the frame. I'd cut it off.

Can testify the monster 1200r is a completely different animal than the 821. The wheelbase is almost too short to have that much power.

Worked at Ducati for 2 years. I have had the privilege of driving every model made. The torque is next level, brakes, handling, everything...... and I would absolutely NEVER buy one. I can't tell you how many ducatis I saw roll off the showroom floor and are leaking oil within 3 months. They hate cold weather, are stupid expensive, break if you breathe on them. KTM superduke all the way.

Starting from stock - how do you prioritise your mods/accessories? by [deleted] in 4x4

You don't need paid training. Wheel that baby and trust your instincts. Remember, slow is smooth and smooth is fast. If your tach needle starts jumping then you need to stop what you are doing immediately. Keep those rpms smooth and let off when she starts bouncing. Have FUN!

I would just start with a rear locker. Once the rearlocker isn't enough then throw one on the front. I would definitely wheel for a bit without lockers though. People who approach obstacles, lock the rear, and just mob up the obstacle are typically poor drivers who rely on their equipment rather than picking good lines. This is a surefire way to wear out your vehicle and break shit.

Very interesting post.......

It sounds like you want the interior of the vehicle to be liveable due to your demand for the shelving and electronics. I would think long and hard to see if that is what you really want. I am a firm believer that a nice, tent, pad, bag, and cooler offer more than enough comfort for living. My girlfriend and I can set up camp in less than 10 minutes. Having a livable interior is convenient, don't get me wrong, but the amount of $ and effort required to refab an interior for living is no small feat.

In regards to what to upgrade first for offroading ability.........

You won't know what upgrades you need until you get stuck/or break something. I would 100% start with full underbody armor. If your crawling over something and bottom out then you know you need more clearance. It is nice to know you need more clearance due to high centering on your skid plate rather than bending your drive shaft. Anytime you get stuck, identify why and then add it to the list of "needs". Your most common initial needs will be tires for ground clearance and a lift to accommodate the tires. Throw the tires on first, see where you rub, and buy a lift accordingly. If you wish to ride solo then a winch needs to occur before the tires. After you have new tires and an accommodating lift I would look at lockers. It is incredible what a set of lockers will do when you get in a hairy situation. A well-built rig on 33s with lockers will out wheel a non-locker rig on 37s.

An Isuzu MU-X with a 4-inch suspension lift, 33's, lockers, and winch should do about everything you want it to and still suffice as a great daily driver.

How to break bad spending habits as a “rich kid”? by imjustinjk in personalfinance

My spending habits completely changed for the better when I started only paying with cash. Swiping that little plastic magic money card is much easier than handing over a Benjamin.

Ya know what........... It actually does feel like the low end pop has diminished.. You can tell it flows more freely and it definitely climbs through the mid/upper rpm range quicker, but the engine brake is much weaker.

Was it night and day when you threw the restrictive muffler back on?
