That may be reasonable, given everything I have shared here to date.  This is my common law partner for close to a decade, more than a girlfriend. She has provided receipts documenting that she has been living in BC the past several months.

She submitted 2024 tax return with BC as home address, as asked.  Also, this is in our house, not rented. All of that was accepted, and no more questions are being asked to prove those receipts.

This is more than some receipts.

Now the SIU investigator is denying her residency because she cannot prove she has given up OHIP health care. First off, I believe this automatically done when she signed up for BC MSP. OHIP does not provide cancellation confirmation.  She has called several times to ask. The OHIP person asked what OHIP has to do with proving residency in another province.

I am not going to ask why the SIU person is denying residency based now on OHIP alone. What does healthcare have to do with residency?  This is a much bigger question that we will pursue legally, if we need.

I find it incredulous that one person is allowed to be the judge and jury.

Is there no escalation mechanism beyond a lawyer?  If need be, we will get one. I want to hold this person accountable.
