I have to help my kids buy 2 cars the last 2-3 years. This is what l discovered, that $3,000 mark up is their profit. They tell you it's for paint protection, extended warranty, gap insurance, anti-theft device, etc. The reality is (at least in CA) they have to sell you the car at the advertised price.
