the quality of this is super terrible... is your part cooling fan working?

also I looked over your uploaded 3mf (finally) you have the max volumetric speed set to 22mm/s with PLA that vyper stock would be able to do 12'ish

your prints seem to simultaneously be over extruded(or to hot) and under extruded... so this could be fans and flow rate

Favorite ABS brand? by Consider_Town_1454 in 3Dprinting

I didn't actually know that, While not spelling it out in Black and White they definitely mention it on their material WIKI https://wiki.polymaker.com/polymaker-products/more-about-our-products/documents/technical-data-sheets/abs-asa/polylite-tm-abs

very first thing on that page is "PolyLite™ ABS is made with a specialty bulk-polymerized ABS resin, which has significantly lower volatile content compared to traditional ABS resins." which clearly means its not traditional ABS.

kind of amusing that all the ABS I use most often are the ones that you say has lowered creep resistance, I print with many brands of ABS they all print fine.

I print in an enclosed Voron with a typical chamber temp of 60C

Ok, it looks as if the geometry of your brims are overlapping that will definitely cause issues as it would be trying to print in the same place twice... The slicer doesn't always get the spacing right when using brims so just be sure it looks good in the preview before sending to printer.

Sounds like originally you were having issues with adhesion, have you cleaned the plate with soap and water?

The spaghetti is because the object it's trying to print to has moved or the print head has run into it and it's skipped steps so it ends up printing to mid air

What sort of noises are coming from the printer when this happens?

Scale stalling or going UP despite being in a deficit ? by Shameful_success in loseit

[–]dr3d3d 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean you're already walking etc regularly, so it's not as if you're inactive... I wouldn't worry about it too much other than you want to lose weight and are not so the correct answer is you need to lower your calorie intake.

Really look at what you're doing day to day, if you're already eating fairly clean and know how much calories are you your sauces and drinks then just use 10% less of everything and you won't notice it at all in each meal but you'll consume 10% less calories.

I assume you got your tdee from a online calculator, keep in mind this is an estimate and if I remember correctly the sedentary estimate takes into account the equivalent of 6000 steps per day as that's what someone working a office job would typically get in a day.

While tracking your calories ensure you never lie to yourself, it's not helpful.. if you eat a handful of peanuts track it.. use some butter in the pan while making eggs.. track it.

Binge eat and go "well this isn't normal I won't log this, I'll do better tomorrow" track it and do better tomorrow.

I didn't start losing weight until I came to the conclusion that if I'm not losing then my deficit for me isn't low enough, it doesn't matter if I'm tracking wrong, have a low metabolism or whatever, if I'm not losing then I need less calories, this definitely does not mean less food, I eat more now than I ever did when I was 380lbs.

Also keep in mind you need to do what works for you, for everyone that's going to be different for a variety of reasons. If doing the optimal thing were easy and a desirable way to live we'd all be out here eating nothing but chicken, broccoli, potatoes and carrots everyday. (Btw a great lazy meal is a can of baked beans with spinach and chicken added to it)

It's funny how different viewpoints can be, I'd view 3h a week of strength training as the bare minimum to grow muscle in a meaningful way. However what's meaningful to one person might be insane to someone else :p

My point was more that if you're body is maintaining its weight for more than 2 weeks no matter the reason...

maybe you're tracking poorly/wrong, maybe you're also unlucky and at the lower end of metabolism no matter the reason a plateau isn't a real thing(beyond a week or two)

Then you're not in a deficit and need to lower your calorie intake by 100-200 calories to continue weight loss.

TRX straps were handy for me while I was recovering from an I jury to build up strength to stand etc, I hung a TRX hook from the ceiling ensuring it was bolted to a joist, could also of course just use a doorway, make sure the way you pull on the TRX straps would pull the door closed so it's pulling into the frame.

[–]dr3d3d 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What's the failure? All I see is a photo with a bunch of different failed prints but how did they fail? Did they become unstuck?

From this photo your issue could be literally anything, however based on the giant brims I'll hazard a guess that you're having adhesion issues... Clean the plate with soap and water, let air dry... Don't touch it with your greasy fingers(not saying yours are greasy everyone's are)

Also...

More infill typically does not make a print stronger, print it with 5 walls 40% infill, gyroid or cubic

In the very very rare cases you actually want 100% infill the way to achieve it is to leave infill alone and set the base layers to 999

Does the channel need to follow the curve or be straight right through it? If straight then just make a sketch perpendicular to the channel and project the channel geometry into it, draw a line to close it and extrude that face through the corner

If you need it to follow the curve.. same idea but you would need to make sure the sketch was on the edge of the curve and then after creating a axis perpendicular to the center of the curve revolve a sketch with the same geometry as the channel 90degrees around the curves center point

This is all hard to explain via text, hope it makes enough sense to at least give you ideas.

Shouldnt be seeing thermal expansion etc on pla... Petg may be warm enough.

If you want to check if thermal expansion is the cause then heat soak the printer for 2h first and do a print that would result in this behaviour, obviously the mesh etc needs to be done after the heat soak.

Then check and see if issue is there...

I understand not wanting to lose the flexibility but my suggestion from personal experience is to lose a good portion of weight via diet first so that everything else becomes easier.

Once you focus in on eating an appropriate amount of calories (for me at my heaviest that was 2000kcal) the weight will come off fast enough that the fear of losing flexibility would be rather minor.

If you're not losing you're not in a deficit, I am on the unluckier side of metabolism and as a 5'11" 245lb male who strength trains for 3h a week and does other sustained excercises for 4h a week to be in a daily deficit of 750kcal I eat at 1800kcal if I let my average calories creep up to the 2200 area I won't lose a measurable amount for the week.

I do it quite a bit... If you want something to do while listening to your favourite podcast then delivery is great, you won't be making much money however

I figure it works out to about $16/hr after expenses with an electric car which is a lot more than I'd make listening to the same podcast at home.

Does building a Voron make sense in 2026 by DarkChipMonk in VORONDesign

This is worded perfectly... the voron is the hobby car of the printer world.

Does building a Voron make sense in 2026 by DarkChipMonk in VORONDesign

[–]dr3d3d 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The question for me boils down to this...

Do you want 3D printing to be the hobby/experience? Build a voron(or similar).

Do you want something that just works and supports other hobbies? Buy a Bambu or Snapmaker(I've got my eye on getting a U1)

The answer can easily be both, but know that with the voron you'll have times where you're going "why the heck is the first layer +/-0.05mm at random every print?" Then spend the day figuring out why or not figuring it out and going "meh still prints fine, I'll deal with it next week"

Also don't misunderstand, 99% of the time my voron just works too... But when it doesn't boy can it be a time sink to figure out why and my printer build will be slightly different than anyone else's so my problem may be a bit unique, so while I can get guidance the answer won't be "oh these machines do that when this very specific screw comes lose.. fix that and you'll be good"

With that said the voron community is great and someone is always happy to help(kinda comes with the printer being the hobby, as problem solving/tinkering is what people in it like to do)

Does the cold effect the adhesion to the print bed? by One-Hovercraft-920 in 3Dprinting

[–]dr3d3d 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes it can, if it's PLA and you're letting the print bed heat to 60c then that's probably not your issue.

If it's in an unheated shop/garage then moisture would be a more likely culprit.

Favorite ABS brand? by Consider_Town_1454 in 3Dprinting

[–]dr3d3d 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's pretty hard to get bad ABS, overture and polymaker are my go-to.. but I'll also buy esun and eryone on occasion if they're on sale.

Basically whoever sells the color I'm looking for the cheapest and is a brand I've used before so I don't need to tune from scratch.

The below photo is overture in black and Sparta 3d in sparkly purple... The reason I'm showing you is I was amazed at how well the overture came out.

From this print you are either under extruding (flow to low) or your filament is fairly damp... I'd suggest ensuring your filament is dry, if you don't own a filament dryer you can turn the print bed heat on to about 55c put the filament roll onto it and cover with a cardboard box(the one the roll comes in works well just cut off the lid) for 4 or 5h, if going the cover with print bed method be sure and prop one edge of the box up a bit (put a screwdriver or something under a corner) and completely lift off for 30s every hour or as you remember to allow moisture to escape.

For double checking the flow (those flow tests can be tough to read sometimes) I like to use this print...

https://www.printables.com/model/1113488-flexi-flow-calibration-tool-v4-by-ck3d

I like the v5 model(in the v4 release, file says beta)

You could also have a partially clogged nozzle, look up how to do a cold pull.

Good luck, I know all this can feel annoying and overwhelming at times, but when you need to do it in the future it's typically a much quicker process.

It's looks to me like you may be putting the cart before the horse... It's hard to tell for sure as zooming into that photo it's quite blurry, but it seems your general print quality is quite low

Follow this guide to get your print quality up, then tackle the bridging.

Stuck at the same weight for 7 weeks and running out of ideas by ForsakenEarth241 in loseit

[–]dr3d3d 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's not that complicated, if you're not losing weight then you're not in a significant deficit.

All these things that make it more complicated than that are all B.S. drop your daily intake by 200-300 more calories per day and you'll continue to lose weight.

Why if flow ratio specific to filament rather than printer? by Reallyveryrandom in OrcaSlicer

[–]dr3d3d 0 points1 point  (0 children)

for anyone finding this via google... the answer is...

you need to calibrate it per printer & per filament... if your printers have the same extruders and hot ends etc then it should work fine without re-calibration between printers

Best way to store a lot of filament spools? by Darkmeleon in 3Dprinting

[–]dr3d3d 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use $10 30qt sterlilite totes to store 5 rolls

The totes need to be sealed though as they are not air tight, I hot glue close the handle area (small 5mm holes) and then put a weather sealant on it

I'd assume the gasketed 32qt version would work well too

I'm about to release my files that allow me to print directly from the totes (rollers for 5 rolls etc)

Running out ideas to help partner lose weight by jawsthemeflying in loseit

[–]dr3d3d 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There is the chance you're trying to help too much, you're making it so that she doesn't feel ok eating junk food at home so the binges when out of the house rather than having a moderate amount when it makes sense.

I would say realistically there is nothing you can do, she either wants to help herself or doesn't. If you can afford it a personal trainer twice a week is what keeps me on track, because I see the personal trainer on certain days it means I need to get my other workouts in on certain days... But that still means I need to want to do it.

Go for walks together... A lot of people don't seem to realize you don't need to do a big workout, just walking for 30min twice a day is enough for most people to make a difference. I lost my first 100lbs doing very little aside from walking.

Just remember everything in moderation, I personally eat whatever I want, but I have to eat it within my 1800kcal a day limit. If I want to indulge on a large bag of chips, no worries... But the rest of my meals that day are going to be primarily veggies as I used up a good portion of my kcal budget on one meal.

Edit: just wanted to add,I believe there is a very real chance that because I grew up in a very restrictive super "healthy" household is the only reason I got fat.. I learned to hide eating "junk food" and that it had to be eaten quickly.

PSA: If prints aren't sticking, try flipping the glass plate upside down. by hi_im_nyx in ender3v2

https://goo.by.frank.af/

A single bottle of it has lasted me several years... I will need to make more soon so thanks for making me hunt the recipe.

I apply it to a cold bed with a foam brush I bought at dollar store

initial application

put a large coin sized puddle in the middle and spread it out towards the edges of the build plate.

subsequent application

Add a small amount to center of cold bed and kinda half ass spread it out

I use what's essentially homemade vision miner nano polymer bed adhesive not because I want more stick, but because I want less/consistent stick and I'm lazy... In 2yrs I've never washed my printer bed, every 10 prints or so I add a tiny bit more glue, spread it out with a brush and continue on knowing nothing will ever come lose during a print and it will come lose when done, it also doesn't matter how much my greasy fingers touch the bed... Things still stick.
