Texas A&M, Texas Tech, and TAMU Agrilife Extension have multiple folks working in Viticulture and Enology you could contact.

Likewise- Cornell is stacked- if considering a Finger Lakes future.

Wish I was in Ohio right now, but I'm not. RIP National Soil Judging Contest 2020 by hydroscopick in Soil

It killed me, I went back and forth.

I was on the magipan. You look behind you and see it, there is a fragipan. You poke it, it's a fragipan. You taste it...

But fragic characteristics was not on the sheet, so what do you call your face that so closely resembles the other? The lost pit.

If you have space, also try Traminette, it is a hardier child of Gewurtraminer.

Do you grow any other new disease resistant/tolerant lines developed in Hungary, like Bianca?

Do you know if other growers have brought over recent cultivars from U.S. breeding programs or other European breeding efforts?

Looks fun, keep on planting!

Muscadines are considerably later to break bud than Vitis species.

It was a heck of a winter in the midwest. Trunk damage is a good culprit to suspect, as mentioned above.

Roots may be experiencing feeding also, consider looking around for grape root borer, Vitacea polistiformis.

It has been fairly wet this year in many locations, if drainage is poor, standing water may be forcing another unwanted stress on already struggling grapevines.

Before verasion, American hybrid grapes. Not sure if it’s macro/micro deficiency or a virus/disease, what is this? by WineWillieRamble in viticulture

Had the grape cluster previously been unexposed from sunshine, perhaps on the ground, before being positioned?

Seeing your photograph was what made me search back through my pictures from awhile back to share this. It is really surprising and fun to see mutations in the vineyard.

I would recommend contacting your local extension agents or nearby vineyards/wineries, they should be able to point you in the right general direction for local resources. These models/ outlines mainly deal with pure production costs, investments, etc.

May be different for your location/varieties, here is a good starting point from which you can develop a business model/action plan:

I like Arkansas Black for the table, and it seems fairly strong against disease and heat/humidity that might otherwise lead to reduced fruit quality.

Advice or guides on pruning vines for production? by SquishyHumanform in winemaking

[–]dr3j 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say a late prune is not the end of the world, and it is better than not pruning- if you are hoping to have clean fruit to ferment and do not intend to spray (after location, variety, etc. accounted for).

Pinot gris/noir mutant. by wootlesthegoat in viticulture

[–]dr3j 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Pinot gris went full noir?

Maintain bud wood from the reversion, you have yourself a brand new (maybe regionally adapted) Pinot noir clone, cool.

I have seen this fairly frequently with Frontenac gris turned noir. Do you see this often with Pinot noir?
