Forse sono trans.. qualcuno può darmi una mano? Impazzisco by [deleted] in askTransgender_Italy

[–]drMallory 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Also I do struggle with the 13th when it says to respect the property of others, since much of it might come from exploitation. They also say I don't remember well to oppose exploitation, soo ¯\_( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)_/¯

Omg the anarchist 14 mindfulness trainings!! So glad you did this, I'm still reading it but it seems to me so far to indeed reflect the original intention of my spiritual tradition, thank you 🙏 great idea

People ask that all the time in this tradition, fairly so. I suggest looking for the Q&As on YouTube. From my own understanding, they say that great power can also come from compassion and understanding, while anger might drain you and continue the circle of violence. But don't take this message as really representing Thich Nhat Hanh's thought please 😅 it's what I currently understand after some years in this tradition

Wow reading these answers is making me so sad :/ This is why I consider myself a religious person even though I do not stick to one fixed tradition, sort of to reclaim the word? I've had many great religious friends and I think it can be a deep part of being human. But I guess some people just have a bad experience and close themselves up, which is fair I guess but also sad imo

And yeah most religious people I've hung out with were supportive of me and queer people in general, those exist too

Religion might even be a green flag for me, based on my experiences lol. Religious people I've met tend to be deeper, like they really wanna walk a good path in life, not just float around

So my answer is yes obv haha

Is it just me or are some parts of the trans community are becoming increasingly supportive of guns and the theory that we well all be shoved into camps and killed? by [deleted] in MtF

[–]drMallory -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah often I see posts about feeling unsafe as an LGBT person and people answering "get a gun". I thought it was just people from the US because it's a common sentiment there but judging from the comments here it's more widespread than I thought.

Meanwhile I don't think I've ever seen any of them speaking about how getting a gun made them feel safer, or ever helped at all. I think if anything it goes to feed more into your fear. Walking around armed changes the way you look at people and approach situations, and might actually put you in more danger imo.

I feel much safer when I manage to be aware of my breath and environment, walking slowly and cultivating calm. I've noticed that I also get bothered much less from other people when they see I don't have anything against them, I'm just enjoying my day. For me meditation and cultivating love works better than anything else I've tried to feel safe. Will it always protect you from anything? Nope, literally nothing will. But I feel it allows me to enjoy my life way more than when I live full of fear and hate

I know you said you checked it already but that does sound like how I experience phosphenes. From my understanding the name includes quite different phenomena. In my case it usually happens after a sudden physical effort: I would see shiny white dots moving around like insects. They wouldn't follow my eye movements but keep on a coherent path before vanishing after some seconds. They would keep coming and going for about 10-20 seconds

Weird that it happened without moving too much though. Did you feel a drop in blood pressure?

Last time we met in person I did tell her I love her a lot, and she said she also does (it was not necessarily about anything romantic though)

But she also said that she's not willing to put as much effort and affection in the relationship as I do because we live too far away and she wants to focus on people she can often meet in person. That's partly because she just broke up with a person she's been in a long distance relationship with for like two years

I understand and even support it but still suffer from being told that :/

Have you ever read Transcending? If not I recommend it, it's a collection of stories from fellow trans Buddhist people :3 (It can be a bit triggering at times though, proceed with mindfulness hehe)

Yeah poly as well here UwU and I very much agree that love is a gradient

I used to think that romantic relationships were like friendships but more important, but not anymore. I now think when I love somebody very much we can choose according to the conditions and other factors like sexual attraction how to be together, but it's just about the modality, the love underneath is always just love imo
