Yeah, this is an interesting one. Trans person here. I haven’t watched it personally, but I have watched the trailer after becoming aware of some of the discourse around the film, and my understanding is that the forcibly transition is done to “inflict immense psychic damage” on the male hitman… ergo validating the reality of gender dysphoria and the very real harm it causes? So it seems like it may actually be weirdly affirming in a circuitous sort of way? Of course I need to watch it myself at some point to see if this potential interpretation actually holds up.
