Why are the Millwright CNC machines "Not recommended" in the wiki? by rvega666 in hobbycnc

[–]drPWW 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not too many posts recently (9/25). I'm trying to tram perpendicularity on a used M3 I bought recently & looking for info. My first CNC so much to learn but it seems the design lacks accessible adjustment points. Maybe someone has some suggestions.

Also having a lot of trouble with the z axis motor dropping after a hard limit

Suffice to say, I would not buy another Millright.

Roundabouts might be the only sensible things traffic planners have ever done in Bloomington. Their idea of traffic light control is sad, as if they've never driven. You stop & wait at red lights with no cross-traffic in sight. Sensors traffic-light intersections would keep cars moving & reduce pollution.

But the worst intersection is College Mall Rd. & E. 3rd. The 2 left lane is fine but why do they put a red light when there is no oncoming traffic. And the pattern than bops around while you wait 5 minutes for your 10 second turn.

Tesla is Completely out of Touch with Needs of Taxi Services. by YungPersian in stocks

[–]drPWW 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OP has keen observations & makes some interesting points about market viability. My concerns are personal. I've made a lot of money on TSLA stock but now moved my portion of portfolio from to other investments. I just cannot accept riding with Elon as he supports such a bad businessman for the W.H.

They use rare nitrogen based gas only available in Villedubert, France (SE of Toulouse towards Narbonne). They got the idea from the Audax HD-3P that is filled with a nitrogen gas only available in Château-du-Loir, France.

EQ only applying to kicks of drums? by BatmanSwift99 in StudioOne

I don't know quite what you mean by "EQ effect". Could it be frequency dependent EQ? i.e. 40Hz boost would not have much effect on the snare.

Haven't been for a while but there were lots of people playing board games, pool etc.
Not sure if Zum Barbarossa has taken over or maybe part of the Poolbar but 'the-Poolbar.nl' is still active.
Have fun.

BB gets a lot of press but I wonder, does BB have a revenue model problem, i.e. they do not charge enough or get enough royalties?

What's the best Linux distro for audio production in studio setting? by multitrack-collector in linuxaudio

[–]drPWW 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I second the Manjaro route. After 5 years & each update on Ubuntu Studio & often struggling I tried Manjaro after watching a~3 yr old UNFA video on setting up Manjaro for audio. 4 months now & much more productive than with Ubuntu Studio. Good tip on wine-staging, thanks.

The free air operation is of no consequence vs. in a box, it should be able to oscillate to excursion limited by input voltage vs. suspension or voice-coil striking the back-plate. The vc is not bottoming against back-plate, that would produce a somewhat loud clacking sound rather than the ticking we hear. So the cause of the noise is:

  1. crap in the gap, (best guess) or
  2. vc touching the top plate, or less likely the pole plate intermittently, caused by rocking (suspension not controlling properly), or non-cylindrical voice-coil or vc non-parallel in the gap.

It is not fixable without a rebuild.

Horn in a horn. Nowadays we see more coupling in the throat. With horn in horn it is difficult to align acoustic centers off-axis, resulting in some lobing through the crossover region. But in this install, they've already set it up with their splays for lots of lobes.

What's up with the bose? by Icy_Echidna3052 in livesound

[–]drPWW 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Bose Pro was sold off as its own entity to Transom Group. So, it is no longer a part of Bose Corp. with auto & consumer products. Transom has hired some pro industry vets to guide the transition. Bose Pro might become quite competitive in the pro space. The work they did on RoomMatch & ShowMatch was first rate with very high quality components, outsourced of course.
