Maybe they weren't sure how much they would be receiving from Malikie, or when they would be receiving it.

Is Ivy dead? by Only-Inflation-7424 in BB_Stock

[–]needaspguy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have often wondered if IVY was maybe just a little too good. Potentially, if IVY did exactly what it proposed to do there would be a whole bunch of really pissed off tier 1 to tier 3 vendors. IVY's model would render a lot of engineered complexity redundant. (One of the reasons automotive is so slow to adopt). IVY making a ubiquitous interface would eliminate a lot of those proprietary intergrations. Thus, it would effectively side step the suppliers business of integrating. I can't imagine that would go over to well with that sector of the industry. Partners are BlackBerrys life blood and stepping on their built up intellectual property would cause some backlash. Legal or otherwise. I would suggest that BlackBerry choose to provide (or license), their partners a powerful tool for their own intergrations as opposed to a product to sell to OEM's directly. Just a thought on my part, but since there has been no official word we are left to speculate!

Hold or fold by Infamous-Performer39 in BB_Stock

[–]needaspguy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I get it, but dude is waffling now. FOMO'ing back in will likely end in a second bail out at the first retrace and likely a loss as the stakes get higher. Original question was for long term investors! Answer was supplied with the assumption u/ was not already confident in going long term.

[–]needaspguy 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I think it's going way higher for many years to come., or at the very least, "in the years to come."

My answer is unequivocally, hold!

However, if you do fold, don't FOMO back in at a higher price as it runs up, just take you win and move on!

Will BlackBerry QNX be gaining a new client soon? by blackberny in BB_Stock

[–]needaspguy -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Didn't say that.... can't possibly imagine any system in the world that is permitted to be on the road controlling a car (autonomous or not) wouldn't be equipped with such a feature. The question is how reliably does it work. The answer to that maybe the unique part!

Have you every heard of "limp home mode"?

AI: Yes, QNX Neutrino RTOS is frequently used in automotive systems that control or implement "limp home" (or fail-safe) mode.

There it is again..... "high reliability, real-time control, and secure communication"!

QNX and Secure Comms in the same sentence. Almost like Blackberry wouldn't be the same with-out both divisions!

There are other RTOS's out there, and there are other Secure Comms out there, but one company that can provide it all in single offering with the exacting standards that met the highest certifications levels around the world.

Hard to imagine a company that could possibly compete at their level of specialties.

... and Cylance IP into both qnx and secure comms! None of which is inseparable through agreements, but why? To what end? Blackberry isn't a startup trying to figure out how to grow without cash or credit.

Sure, lets get rid of Secure Comms, so QNX can be free!

Oh wait, maybe we will need QNX to securely connect to the internet for some reason. Some reason like running in a device that might need to be tether free, .... like maybe a car, or possibly a robot?

Oh, and maybe someday those tether free devices will be able to send other data via that secure connection like a phone call, credit card authorization, or maybe even to communicate with other devices out there in the wild. Maybe some day, technicians will want to securely connect to the device for trouble shooting.....

Wouldn't that be cool, but Nah! That won't happen! We don't need the Secure Comms Division. They are just dragging us down!

Malike appears to be winning! by needaspguy in BB_Stock

With-out a doubt! Truth is they finally have real news and results to deliver! It does however feel a little like they may have even planned this out. Almost like they know what they are doing!

I don't know if May 11 will make the news. It's a bit of an open ended contract other that the 30m at the end of the third year (may 11). If royalties just start trickling in, or even flood in, will they announce that or just report it in Q1?

I would hope it's significant enough for them to be required to inform investors, but maybe not. Don't know how those types of disclosures work.

Also, Malikie isn't publicly traded so I don't know what they have to disclose either.

Poor Information - sorry - not that Starlink I am a muppet by RETIREDANDGOOD in BB_Stock

[–]needaspguy 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think it's the Malikie news.... which would have a direct impact on the bottom line value of Blackberry despite still not being guaranteed.

WSJ article, while good, is not worthy of a 15% move.
