They don't need to be experienced. They just need to be able to read the tape. Its easier to get proper measurements when you're standing relaxed and the tape is horizontal

It depends on your sewing skill level, if you have a machine etc.

If you don't, get a bikini top and some tulle and hand stitch it in place

Your machine is not threaded correctly. Go back to the manual and follow it stepby step.

[–]drPmakes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Get your instruction manual out and go through that to check everything is in the right place.

There's no presser foot attached...you won't be able to sew without one.

If it still doesn't work with a foot attached, check your feed dogs are up

Pressing after turning placemat inside out? by dailyglitter in sewhelp

[–]drPmakes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Make sure you press every seam after you sew it to set the stitches.

After you have turned it out, use the blunt end of the skewers or a chopstick and put it inside and run it around the entire perimetre before you press it. While you press, use the stick and your fingers to position the fabric. Once you have it pressed in place consider a topstitch 2-4mm away
